My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there and upon knowing this, the owner gave us a free dessert with a "Happy... Anniversary" message written in chocolate. The staff is very helpful and friendly, from servers to busboys, they all took thetime to ensure we were having a lovely evening. And don't get me started on the food, it was DELICIOUS. Would definitely goagain! Read more

Originally founded in 1900 and set up in the Malibu mountains Saddle Peak truly is a special experience and an LA staple. I go... out to eat at least once a week to a new place, every week, and can honestly say this is one of the better places that I’vebeen to in a few months, and I usually go to places of the same price scale. Our server Steven was fantastic and did a wonderfuljob as well as the rest of the staff that we encountered. The inside is designed like an old hunting lodge, which, at one pointit actually used to be, complete with an inside that looks like a log cabin with taxidermy and chandeliers all over the place.Extremely unique for the Los Angeles area. They have valet only for $10 and the attendant on duty tonight was also verypolite. Some of the items on the menu are a bit overpriced, but not by a lot only about a $10-$15 raise compared to otherplaces down closer to the water. However, every dish we had was fantastic and the atmosphere really added to that as well. Istarted off with the French Onion Soup, which was a bit expensive for $24 but it was truly great. The flavors were rich and deepand it’s a dish I order all over town and can say this is one of the better ones that I have had. Next came the Bronzino whichwas fantastic. The skin was extremely crispy and the black rice with it was a great combination. It was also about $10-$15 morethan usual being that they asked for $54 for this dish but still it was a good sized portion and truly delicious. Finally fordessert I had the famous toffee bread pudding which was not overpriced and came in at the standard $15. It was an absolutewonderful end to the meal. I understand how this place could be a bit expensive for some, but I honestly didn’t mind theslight increase in price just because of the trade-off of the location and experience. I would happily come here again, and planto in the future. This would definitely fall into the special occasion dinner, even though it was just a regular Read more

I really enjoyed the trip to this restaurant from Malibu. The food is really good, I couldn't sit outside because of all the... flies, and bees. Inside we picked a table which was rocking. And the bathroom was really unsanitary. Read more

The atmosphere at this place is great. The log cabin was first built in the late 1800’s and the. Added to in the 1980’s. ... Has the look and feel of a western hunting lodge. Perfect place to have had our Christmas Eve dinner. Food though, was good, butnot great, and the price was a little steep. The service was great, and you must Valet park your car for $20. If the food wasbetter, the. This would have been a 5 star rating. Read more

What happened with our favourite place? Same building full lights on ( not as romantic. New ownership.? Staff shortage, oh boy.... Service is ok. That's it. Do not expect personality and attention. Never were offered a seco d service of bread nor butter...some items were under par ( dry chicken) . No knowledge of the wines available / offer suggestion, you are on your own. Whatwould be a small issue in most places became an incident with no solution or we have to charge an extra 3% to refund a card andcharge another. This after charging a flat 20% service charge ( taxable to boot). No problem solving skills and invitation to"join the club of the dissatisfied "guests!!! Wow!. Keeping guests waitting while supposedly checking with the manager is notcool. Coming back knowing that you are a returning guest instead and that we left 5 star before instead of working on issue.Wrong. I can remember my first meal there 34 years ago.( chilean sea bass with cactus juice sauce.) The waiter Leonard, the winehe suggested ( Frick Pinot Noir) and the manager Majic. Tonight "acting ( and bad as that) manager" did not even bother to bringhis card and should remain nameless and let SPL be ignored until proper management , staffing and some pride would be broughtback. Ps ignore the proper attire sign. Jeans and T shirts were ok tonight. Sad! Read more

The Saddle Peak Lodge is a must visit for my family and I when we are in Los Angeles. It is a drive through Malibu and up the... mountains to get to it but it is a gorgeous route even at night. Let me start off with saying I absolutely love this restaurantbut if you are an animal lover it's a bit hard because it is a hunting lodge atmosphere with animal heads and pelts as decor andif that turns you off this may not be for you. The employees are all wonderful and the last time we went we wound up with asmall wait and one employee took us on a guided tour of the lodge and told us all about the history of it (and some possibleghost sightings) right up until our table was ready. The food is wonderful, I really enjoy the Pink Lady Apple Salad, BrusselsSprouts, Mary's Chicken Breast, and sorbet trio. If you're a more adventurous eater my father really enjoyed the Chef's GameTrio of Emu, Elk, and Bison. It's a beautiful place in a gorgeous location with delicious food, what more can you ask for?
