It?s hard for me to overstate how much I absolutely love The Mean Pig BBQ. Their Smoked Frito Pie is my favorite meal?as in... favorite thing to eat on the planet. I love it. Each time we eat here my wife makes me ask what cobbler they have. Regardlessof what it is, if it isn?t already sold out, we?re ordering it too. Buddy and his staff are wonderful people that do afantastic job running their small business. They quietly also do so much for our community. I want to start this review by saying that the service was awesome. This in no way is a reflection of the employees. My order... consisted of two 2 meat meals. The foods chosen were: - Chopped pork, Brisket, Potato Salad, Baked Beans, a roll, and sweet &mild BBQ sauces. - Chopped pork, Jalepeno Cheese Sausage, Potato Salad, a Cookie, a roll, and sweet & mild BBQ sauces. The foodwas very lackluster. The BBQ didn't have much of of a smoked flavor. The chopped pork tasted like it was cooked in the oven andhad no smoke flavor and was dry. The brisket had a mild smoke flavor and was dry. The only meat that was alright was thejalapeño cheese sausage. It was more flavorful and wasn't dry. The only thing that saved the pork & brisket were thesauces. The sides were ehhh as well. The Potato salad was heavy on the dill/pickle flavor. The baked beans were basically pork& beans that had an off flavor I couldn't place but it wasn't a good thing. The cookie was a store bought cookie that they soldas a side. Same for the rolls. Last was the portion size vs. price. The sides were 4oz containers. While the meat portions wereabout 4-6oz. So one meal was 8-12 oz's of meat, and 8oz's of sides, and a roll for $15-$16. If I had wanted a messy, cold BBQ sandwich I could have had that at home. Very disappointing. Very small sides, cold roll. Too... expensive for the quality of food. If you want good BBQ travel a few more miles up the road to whole hog. Read more
We ordered 2lb of chopped beef and half a rack of ribs, ribs were good but the beef was absolutely dry and tasteless. We... couldn't get to eat it, it was that bad, maybe because it was the end of the day, not sure but won't ever goback. Unfotunately we were in a rush and did not have had time to order anything different. Update: Manager was kind andreached out to us. Unfortunately at the time we did not talk to the staff but we really appreciate the time he took to respondto our review.
