Menu for 812 Cake & Dessert in Burnaby, BC

This place was named "812" by the previous owners because it denoted their 8 signature cakes and desserts that are crafted from... their 12 step baking process. Unfortunately, the new ownership is either forgetting some of the 12 steps or not following thesteps correctly. The cakes are now mediocre and do not taste the same. We used to love coming here since the cakes were reallysoft and the icing was the right texture and sweetness. The cakes are now spongey and tastes like something you can just pick upat T&T...You can tell the new ownership doesn't spend as much time as the previous owners did just from the aesthetics of thecakes. The Cafe recently changed owners (as of April 2019), as a result, the quality of the cakes have decreased drastically, and the... variety of cakes (especially the matcha roll!) has gone down as well... The new line of crepe cakes are also very overpricedand pales in comparison to the original cakes from previous owners. Very unfortunate! Update April 2019 - New owner. Very disappointed. Cakes are so small. And the cakes aren't holding. Cream/mousse looks like it's... melting. Sadly, won't be going back. Lost our favorite dessert place. Original - So good. Favorites are strawberry cheesecake,salted caramel, hazelnut and tiramisu. Great to have such a nice dessert place in the neighbourhood. Bright and open space for eating some tasty desserts. We decided on the blueberry cake and the strawberry cheese tart. The... blueberry cake was very light and fluffy. I wish there was a stronger taste of blueberry. The strawberry cheese tart was thebetter one of the two. The crust was buttery and the cheese filling was tangy. I thought it was whipped cream on top, but Ithink it was whipped cream cheese. It had a bit of tanginess to it. Overall, I liked the desserts because they didn't feel heavyat all. I probably could have eaten another slice and wouldn't feel bad about it. I would probably come back to try some of theother desserts. They had a matcha roll cake and a sweet potato cake that I want to try. Definitely give this place a try ifyou're in the area. Read more

Came here at 8 pm on a Saturday and they were already almost sold out of their cakes - only 4 pieces of the strawberry left;... those got sold within another 30 min. Cake wasn?t very flavourful - their coffees and hot chocolate were better. Many peoplewalked in then walked out after seeing everything was sold out. We were then told they decided to close early cause there is nocake left even though the place was still full of people at the tables (about 10 people between two groups). Place seemedpromising because of its cozy atmosphere and the photos of their cakes looked good ... it?s unfortunate they ran out and decidedto close early on a Saturday. Read more
