Reviews for Margaritaville at Lanier Islands Water Park in Buford, GA
PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!!!!!! I took 2, 9 year old girls to the water park. I saw on the website during the... week the beach access fee was free, which was great since I can not ride anything due to getting motion sickness. We showed upand we?re told I had to pay $55 just to be able to enter the park with my 2 girls!!! I didn?t even have a bathing suit on as Iknew I couldn?t do anything while there. The young boy at the ticket booth said yea they changed it this year everyone has topay full price! I again said I don?t even have a suit and can not ride anything so I have to pay $55 to just walk Thru thedoor?? his response yes! As I had 2 girls with me I had no choice! I paid it?? it was not clearly stated on the website at allthat this was the case and said beach access was free! We have had many disappointing experiences at the water park but thiswill be the last as we will not return. Also you may want to tell your life guards to get off their cell phones and payattention!! One at the top of the slide just told the girls to just go as she was flirting with a boy not caring what was goingon at the slide. When they didn?t understand what she said they asked her what in which she screamed at them I said GO andwent back to flirting with the boy! Only to get to the bottom of the slide to be asked to why they went without beingtold!!!! I spent plenty of money today there with food, parking, ice cream, water etc I did not need to be charged to walkaround with my children and not do anything! This is highly disappointing! It?s a shame to have this close to us but I justsimply can not afford to pay $55 to walk around and watch my children! Employees are kids who could care a less!!!! Also beingas it was very hot and you can not bring water in you would think more places other than 1 place would have water to sell!! Andthen they ran out!!! As I have said this is not the first time we had a bad experience but I just felt the need to l Read more
I have to say I am more than disappointed with my my recent experience at Lake Lanier. I?ve been coming to the beach here at... ?sunset cove? now Margaritaville for several summers in a row, and this year they have completely ruined the experience. They?vemoved the parking lots to across the park, with a shuttle that doesn?t take you to the entrance, but drives right past theentrance and makes you walk back. They have restricted beach access to a tiny corner of the park where there is literally 1place to eat and 2 places to get something to drink. No treats, ice creams ect. It?s like they?re trying to force you to buy the55$ water park tickets in order to have a good time, but what if you have little kids who aren?t even big enough for the slides. We used to be able to get to the splash pad ect, and now ALL of that is blocked off and only available if you buy the water parktickets that are 4x the price of beach access. All and all I would say unless you plan to go to the water park and do the slides- don?t bother coming out here. They have completely ruined the experience in order to try and manifest a quick money grab. Ohand they?ll make you dump out your ice water at the gate now, which is something they never did before. What kind of businessmakes you waste water in the middle of summer when people around the world have no clean water? just so you are forced to buy abottle of water. It?s gross? Read more
Pitiful what they have done this year at this establishment. My brother is a season pass holder his children are older and enjoy... full use of the amenities so it?s worth the expense for him however I have two younger little ones who simply just enjoy sittingon the sand, ?swimming? near the shore, and spotting fishies so we typically just buy a day pass to the beach whenever we areable to meet up with them to hang. This year they have sectioned off the largest part of the beach and closed off access toanyone who doesn?t have a season pass. The tiny small section of the beach they did leave is by where all the boats dock- loud, crowded and uncomfortable with barely enough space for anyone to have decent distance from others or the ability to even enjoy afun activity on the sand. Truly awful. Worst part is they don?t disclose this information of changes when purchasing the ticketsso this weekend I waddled my 37 week pregnant self with my two little ones down the steep steps to land shark, made aridiculously long line to purchase access and proceeded to walk past the restaurant to meet up with my brother and his family atthe beach near the volleyball area as we do every year to my surprise was denied access just past land shark area bathrooms(which were disgusting by the way because it?s the only accessible bathroom in that area now that people can?t access thebathrooms further down the beach). I ultimately decided to request a refund and go home. My kids were heart broken- cried allthe way home but I just couldn?t bring myself to imposing those terrible conditions on my brother and his family by requestingthey come sit on such a terribly crowed section of the beach just because. Sure I could have paid an additional $35+ per personon top of the entrance fee I had already paid but it just felt so wrong to pay such an obscene amount of money when my kidswould not be using anything other than just the beach. Highway robbery for sure. Anyhow, lost $20 gate e Read more
We had dinner at the restaurant. It was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon so we waited at the bar. Once we were seated,... Mickalea took excellent care of us. We ordered grouper fingers and fried pickles for appetizers. It came very quickly and theapps were very good. The dinners consisted of Swiss mushroom burger and shrimp baskets. I am impressed at the speed of theservice. The food was decent and the service was excellent. Now, getting to the restaurant is a bit tricky. If you are statingon-site, it?s easier to get there but you will park a long long way away. Read more
Tourist trap. The service is unremarkable. The food is mediocre. We had wings, a burger (which was missing the signature... ingredient) french fries, and nachos. Portions were good but none of it was worth the price. When you come you are obviouslypaying for atmosphere. Don?t come if you?re not on island time? it?s a long wait for minimal enjoyment. Read more
First impression very nice and only a few years old. I?d recommend bring fire ant spray which I carry a liquid sprayer for bugs.... Put it around the coach after we parked. Perfecto ! This is a very nice place I can see the fun it would be for families. Read more
We had so much fun sledding (we're middle aged adults ????) and making smores by the fire. We did t ride any of the rides, most... were for little ones but the tour of lights looked absolutely beautiful after dark. Can't wait to visit the beach in the summer! Read more
The place is mediocre at best. The price is high for what they offer. You can not access the beach at all unless you pay full... price ($55 person and $39 per child) once inside there is limited areas with shade. You can rent an umbrella for $20 more. Thefood selection is very limited and if you have picky children you are just out of luck as they search your bag wires then Disneyto stop any outside food and drinks from coming in they?re all about making every dime they can. The staff seems untrained intheir jobs as everyone seems to do there own thing and not be familiar with any useful information. We came on a Saturday andthen again on Sunday and had two different prices at the gate and two completely different experiences. Completely inconsistent. With lack of direction guest are left to there own accord to figure out everything as there is no staff to be found inside theparks for help. Unless your buys alcohol. In the parking lots people are driving around not paying attention, going the wrongway on one way streets and nearly hitting pedestrians. As there is no one out to do anything about it. Honestly not impressedwith lack of staff and the few here limited knowledge and frequent changes to policy and prices. Read more
