So sad. Beautiful weather, and could have been a great experience. Ruben was good as were the chili cheese fries, side salad... great, but The Diesel was less than to be expected. Awesome sandwiches! I happened upon this deli about 4 years ago. The Owner asked me where I was from and I told him I was from... Cleveland. He then told me this would be the best Cuban sandwich I would eat. He was right and I always make it a point tocome here when I visit the Smoky?s. We visited Bryson City for the first time, and based on previous reviews, we decided to eat lunch at High Test Deli. Our meals... and interactions with very friendly staff did not disappoint! Everyone there was very friendly and truly appreciates the localsupport gained from your business. The portion sizes were perfect, and all of our meals were beyond delicious. We trieddifferent flavors of their milkshakes, and we couldn?t decide which one we liked best. I would highly recommend this restaurantfor anyone in the surrounding areas to stop by and try out their sandwiches during lunchtime! Read more
This place is delicious! Perfect place for a quick sandwich to go in town. We were in Bryson to hike for about a week and we... came here twice. We had the Philly cheese steak, cuban, italian sub, and their main salad with chicken salad added on top. Thesalad was huge and delicious. My favorite sandwich was the Philly and my boyfriend loved the cuban. Then of course we had to trytheir ice cream sandwiches. Yum! We had the PB one and the strawberry shortcake. I was really bummed by the whole experience. From walking in to a door that slams extremely loud behind you. The staff is... bickering, I step up to the counter to order my food while the employee impatiently takes my order, the Cafe is closed so I amasked to wait outside in the rain, which I did not do. I watched numerous people want to come and dine in but were rudly turnedaway and were told the dining and bathrooms were closed. I listened to the employees continue to bicker and work in a constantstate of confusion while they took forever to process my small family's order. The food was mediocre and the service was poor.My suggestion, #1 get a damper for the slamming door #2 move back the barricade from the front door to allow customers to waitinside and not on the busy street in the rain #3 be nicer to the people who are supporting your business #4 you will not findhelp/employees if you continue to allow the seemingly toxic work environment. *their sign and reasoning for having people waitout said, having a closed bathroom dining room, and having a limited menu was due to a nation wide worker shortage.* Buthonestly, who wants to work in a toxic work environment that serves sub-par food a high retail prices.
