This is NOT authentic Jamaican food. I?m sorry for those of you who are from glen county and surrounding areas but nah, this... ain?t it. Got jerk chicken smothered in kc bbq sauce. My Sprite had more flavor than the cabbage. Why in the world does this place have such a high rating?? All of the meats I had... were hardly even seasoned. Seriously, I could do better at home. They have relocated to the shopping center with the big lots at the end with the family dollar. They have not yet had their... grand opening. Having out with these folks trying to find them at their new location I've come to know that everyone here isvery nice and welcoming and proud of their restaurant. Good atmosphere here with billiards and reggae music. Recommended. Read more
I read the reviews before deciding to try this restaurant since we are from out of town. The reviews are either false or... misleading or maybe we went on one of their bad days. First red flag was one lady who may possibly be the owner stated they hadboth beef and chicken soup but when I opted for the beef the cashier asked if they had beef soup. The lady replied yes some isstill there even though it sells fast. She then commented persons come with their bowls for soup. The lady later returned afterI ordered the beef soup and said there was only chicken soup. Also asked if they served white mean to which a gentlemanpossibly co-owner stated they only served white meat. Placed order for 5 meals. No one else was waiting to be served but ittook so long for them to return with it. We started contemplating canceling the order. It wasn't until my husband inquired whyit took so long to serve 5 meals and asked if the food was prepared fresh or being reheated, then they brought back 3. Stillhad to wait another 5 or so minutes for the other 2 and when they came one was incorrect. If you love a lot of gravy, you willappreciate this eatery. They are heavy handed with gravy. Food is not served in front of the customer so a long wait time toreceive your food, with no other customer being served or is cause for concern. They taste was highly overrated. Vegetablesovercooked, quantity small and just an ok taste, nothing to brag about. They also serve de-boned dark meat. Not sure why theyassumed the customers wouldn't be able to distinguish between dark meat and white meat. Overall my family and I weredisappointed and we won't be return customers. Customer service was not bad though, just was not honest. Not all reviews arehonest. So just be mindful when you decide to try a restaurant. Read more
Impeccable food! Some of the best Jamaican Curry Chicken I've had in a long time, nothing but flavor! The shrimp and chips were... good too. The mac & cheese and potato salad was just average the star was definitely the curry. Read more
As a foodie I love to give every eatery a shot and Jerk Shack delivered! I stopped by for a quick lunch in a weekday. Skeptical... at first, I was greeted warmly by the lady at the bar by the main entrance. The restaurant seems casual, upbeat, and vibrant.Food arrived promptly, with great price and portions. I had the conch fritters, and the combination plate (small). It was bigenough to share with another person. Food was properly seasoned and cooked thoroughly. I will definitely return! Read more
Can you guys go back to the way you used to cook jerk chicken? It used to have a crispy charred almost blackened exterior and... soft, fall off the bone interior. Now it tastes rubbery and almost undercooked. Spices taste great and so does rice and cabbage. Read more
