I have been going to this restaurant for years. The food is good, but nothing to rave about. The one star rating is because my... husband and I recently order turkey wing dinners with collard greens and yams with cabbage as a side order. When we got home wefound the collards so salty that we threw them away. The following day I was hoping to enjoy the cabbage with some homemadepork chops, but I found the cabbage to be inedible because the salt. At this point, I go back to the restaurant with theremaining cabbage in the container it was served in. I speak to the young lady at the register and explain my experience. Considering that we had to throw away much of what was ordered, I was hoping that as a customer courtesy, I would be allowedanother choice of one side dish. Instead I get no type of customer courtesy, but more attitude about the fact that I broughtthe remaining food back to the restaurant in the container. I explained to the young lady that i brought it because i did notkeep the receipt from the purchase and I thought it would be proof that I made a purchase at the restaurant (i thought theywould certainly recognize the containers they use for side orders). She insinuated that anybody could come in with a containerand claim that they bought food here. Went there and let me tell you my experience. I had fried chicken yams and collard greens my husband had bbq chicken baked Mac... and cheese collard greens and yams with a side order of potato salad So? yams are to sweet the potato salad is to sweet I?mpretty sure people are getting some form of diabetes from this alone. The greens were good Mac and cheese bland and thecornbread ???????????????????? Chicken I?ve had better and to top it off me and my husband got food poisoning from it and I knowit was from it because it was the only thing we both ate that day and haven?t been able to eat since.. yeah won?t be going back Read more
They food is excellent, the store is always clean I love their yams . Who haven?t been there
Food is okay! They give good portion sizes for the price you pay. Most of the staff is nice. Chef is friendly and handsome.
The fish was made to order, which was nice. The mac & cheese was good, but kinda bland, same with the greens. The candied yams... were good. Cornbread was a bit dry. Read more
My food was nasty! The macaroni and cheese was old, hard and flavorless. Definitely looks like the pan was made days ago. The... catfish is one piece it was salty, the battering super thick and underwhelming. Greens were bland, no taste. The yams were goodhowever. I ordered a peach cobbler-straight to the trash it taste and looks like they dropped the whole container of cinnamonand said Oh well. There no topping and peaches tasted nasty and sour. I don't know how old it was so I just spit it out. Iordered a Pina Coloda slushie it never showed up. $34.80 wasted! Maybe there are good food items but it's none of what I got. Xcellent Soul Food is usually a wonderful place for my family and I to order Take Out or Delivery . We have been repeat... customers of this business for years . However , my experience with one of the staff who answered the phone during the eveningshift was horrible and I do not think I will return or refer this restaurant to anyone else either . This evening, like so manyevenings before , I went online and made an order from this restaurant . I ordered a Salmon Meal . I added two sides to thisorder , Potato Salad and Collard Greens . Once my credit card was charged ?and the order was being prepared, I waited for theDelivery Driver to notify me . I received a call from the Delivery Driver notifying me of their arrival . I went outside ,greeted the Driver and took my order from him . Immediately , I realized that something was wrong with my order . I asked theDriver where were my Side Orders .He told me that I didn?t order any Side Orders . I told him that I did ?and to return theorder and I would call the restaurant myself . I called the restaurant and spoke to a staff member who answered the phone . Itold her that I had sent the order back to the restaurant because it wasn?t the correct order . She proceeded to tell me that Imade a mistake because Side Orders do not come with what I ordered . I told her that I had sent the order back to the restaurantbecause I wanted what I ordered and not what they sent to me . I ended the call ? A few minutes later , I called the restaurantback again and asked if I could get a refund because I sent the food back to the restaurant . The staff member told me that Icould not get a refund until the food was returned ? That statement made perfect sense to me ?and then the staff member statedthat the driver would not make it back to the restaurant because the restaurant was closing in 20 minutes ? Then the staffmember told me that the Driver that they gave my food to was not their regular Driver ?and they don?t know him . Read more
I?m only giving stars for my past experience but this was the worst of them all. I ordered on UberEats, 3 trays of food. ALL OF... THE SIDES WERE STALE NASTY AND DISGUSTING. the Corn Was so Stale.. the Mac Salas Looked Like Mac n Cheese But Disgusting. Idon?t Know who?s ya chef now But the food was disgusting!!! Read more
