The term "Off the Hook" clearly describes the food of "Taste of Heaven", the husband and wife team (Melody and Tony) make... absolutely delicious food. My wife had ribs, mac and cheese, collared greens and fried shrimp, she said her food was totallydelicious, I had fried chicken, mac and cheese, collared greens and cornbread (the cornbread was insanely good), my food wasincredible, we definitely plan on returning (very soon and real soon), God willing. I can say with confidence that this is the best soul food in all of NYC and the best I?ve personally ever had. The proteins were... treated with love, perfectly tender and juicy. We loved the mac and cheese, barbecue ribs (ask for extra sauce), cornbread, andthe jerk chicken. The owners of the restaurant were charming and friendly. Some of the best soul food I?ve ever had. The jerk chicken is beyond tender, the rice is perfect, and the potato salad is... literally the best I ever had. The cornbread is the real star of the show though, it?s the perfect amount of sweetness and is sobuttery. You can?t go wrong with coming here, just come early because they sell out of items quick! All of the positive reviews here are spot-on. The food is delicious and the people who own this place are so kind, welcoming,... and accommodating. They couldn't have been more friendly. The food...oh, the food. Maybe the best soul food of my life. This isexactly what I want every soul food restaurant to be - simple, unpretentious, almost impossibly tasty. They have a great mix ofsides, from stick-to-your-ribs to veggie options like collard greens, sweet potatoes, etc. If you like soul food at all, youmust go here.
