After a long walk in prospect park and a trip to the brooklyn library, I figured why not head to Purbid for some chicken since... my mom has always recommended it. First things first, there not much seating but not many people were there, I assume most oftheir customers order delivery and takeout which is what I did. They have a pretty simple menu and I chose to order a halfchicken which came with Pita and Mac & Cheese. It took about 15 minutes to cook my order and I was out of the door. It wasstill hot when I got home and I was excited to finally try it. The chicken is juicy and had a crispy grilled skin. I also hadtheir chipotle sauce which I used to make a sandwich with the chicken and the Pita. When I opened the Mac and cheese I was notexpected that much. It was tasty but I felt like need a bit more cheesy flavor. It kind of tasted like it was a condensed milkwith minimal cheese vibes. Really wanted to like this place, but the grilled chicken thigh pieces were all charred black and dry, like licking the inside... of an oven. The sauce kind of saves it, but def not a repeat. Sweet potato fries were good. Read more
I can't rave enough about this place. They specialize in grilled chicken, but buy, are they much more. The decor makes me feel... I'm in a wine and tapas bar. We where fortunate enough to come when the owner (Christina) was there. She is amazinglyfriendly, and made us feel right at home. This has to be the best chicken I've ever had! If your into Paleo or Whole 30,everything in the menu is made in-house, and it's easy to pick out what is compatible and what is not. And those items that arenot, you can customize (leave out the bread, cheese, etc.) Even salad dressing is made in-house with simple ingredients andcompatible (and delicious!). Read more
Was that silky smooth grilled Brioche homemade? I ordered takeout and considered calling the restaurant to congratulate them on... a job well done. It?s been a long time since I have tried a new restaurant that exceeded my expectations. Every dish wasprepared perfectly. The broasted chicken made me believe in grilled chicken again. The mashed potatoes were so delicatelywhipped. Dairy ratios were spot on. Broccoli cut into stalks usually need to be cooked a bit more.
