Reviews for Pilar Cuban Bakery in Brooklyn, NY
I really like this place. The staff is divine. Great manner. The sandwiches are delicious. The only three stars is because... whenever here, early in the day, middle of the day, afternoon, whenever in the day, they are understaffed and the wonderfulstaff is overwhelmed/ stressed. One day an alarm was repeatedly going off - as in a low battery for a smoke alarm. I went intwice - early and after lunch. Alarm still beeping. No one to attend to things. If chaos is what you?re after then this works! Read more
The Cuban sandwiches are delicious. My husband orders them and basically requests the works. That includes the egg and the... avocado. Trust me it was good! As far as the deserts I am sold on the key lime pie. I?ve made them from scratch and theirs isjust as good. Read more
Excellent food here. I wish they offered more soups and sides, especially vegetables, but what they do offer is high quality and... great service. Read more
Really good food. The mojitos were great too. I had the vaca frita and it was very tasty and the plantains were some of the best... I ever had. Only gripe was it was a bit pricey for portions. Would definitely visit again if I am in the area. The smell insideof the restaurant took me back to the Caribbean. They definitely nailed the vibe. Read more

This place answers the question: what would a Havana cafe be like if the Miami mob took over Cuba again? The end of the blockade... would mean we'd get to enjoy absolutely delicious high quality beverages and pastries not seen in the island since the fall ofthe USSR, but the reintroduction of neoliberal mafia capitalism would make it prohibitively expensive for the majority of poorCubans and cater only to the wealthy urbanite bourgeois that the revolution tried so desperately to eradicate. Anyways, I can'tcomplain.... The food here is great, but remember that's 5 dollars (not 5 pesos) for that little cup of coffee. Read more
