Reviews for Oxalis in Brooklyn, NY
Went to Oxalis to try their Michelin starred tasting menu at dinner. Some of the snacks were just good, but the Chaterelle with... buckwheat and kelp was definitely a flavor experience, it was delicious. The main dishes had interesting flavor combinations, and the fish and beef were to die for, just melting in the mouth. I did not get very impressed with the deserts overall, Iexpected more. Service was good, but with past experiences in these kinds of tasting menus, I thought the time between servingsfor the main courses were longer than expected. The ambient was the real let down for me. I sat on a table very close to others, and felt inhibited and constricted. The dining room was also hot, and I sweating throughout a good portion of the night, probably because the A/C was not as high as it should, and I was sitting near the kitchen. The food experience was from good toperfect depending on the dishes, but the experience could be better overall. Read more
Pretty good food but not my favorite Michelin star restaurant. I really only loved a couple of the dishes we tried. Most things... were bland and underseasoned. I expected more for the price we paid. The service was good, but a little slow. I probably won'tcome back since the experience was mediocre at best Read more
Great experience at Oxalis for my first Michelin star restaurant in the US! Our favorites were the housemade sourdough bread,... chicken, and brown butter scallops, but everything else on the tasting menu was also delicious. Service was impeccable. Pricesare what you expect at this level in NYC (~$200/person including wine). I would come back again. Read more
I walked into this place without planing at my first visit since I had an event near by but I arrived early. I found out that... their housemate sour dough was amazing, so did their house made soda. As a result, I made a date with friends to try more items, and it was a great nice having the dinner here. All the ingredients were used professionally mixing together. All the flavorsof the dishes was rich, layered, and creative. My favorite is the short rib. The meat was sliced and super soft! Almost meltedin your mouth. The cabbage salad was impressive. The sauce on each leaf was evenly brushed on it with a well-balancedtaste. The cheesecake was outstanding too. A good choice to end the meal. Read more
This place had the most amazing brunch. The staff was excellent - we loved every moment at this wonderful restaurant. The best... thing was the chickpea fried stick dish! Phenomenal. Read more
You will have high-end chef run restaurant without leaving Brooklyn. Their service second to none, from hostess to the bass boy... everyone is pleasant and strive to make your experience as good as possible. We had missed our opportunity to have chefselection and use their regular menu. The quality of food as good as service, we really enjoyed their home baked sourdoughbread, black bass and pork ribs. Also I personally, really liked their cream puff dessert. However I will advise you to skipon cheese and cold cuts, not like they weren't good, just not as good as everything else for their price. But all in all verygood restaurant, reservation is strongly recommended Read more
Went to get fine dining from this Michelin-Star-owned restaurant. We got the Carte Blanche platter, which was $70 each. The food... was admittedly very delicious, many of the bites were amazing and the flavors burst in your mouth. The tuna with squid ink wasgood. However, I have one huge gripe with this restaurant, and it was that we were here from way too long, from evening tonighttime. This is because the dishes came out super slowly despite finishing our portions very fast. The ambiance of therestaurant was excellent though. Read more
Excellent food. I’m a vegetarian. We did a round of chef tasting + cocktail pairing. Cocktail pairing for every dish was... outstanding. Highly recommend if you’re looking for chef tasting. Read more
