The food and atmosphere was great! I got the ttebokki and bibimbap, both of which were really good! Not a fan of the +2 dollar... charge for the fried egg on the bibimpad but either way, it was a huge portion and tasted great! 10/10 would get it again! Read more

I also came to Mokbar after watching iron chef Esther on the show. As a Korean I was excited to see how the restaurant gave a... twist to the traditional dishes and have been waiting to visit for a few months. We ordered Korean fried chicken w/ yangnyum(spicy sauce), Budaejjigae ramen and Ddeobboki. The fried chicken was on point. I've read some comments that it doesn't havethe crunch, but to defend that dish, originally Korean fried chicken with the sauce isn't supposed to have a crunch. So Ispecifically order mine with the sauce on the side. I thought it was pretty authentic and delicious. Budaejjigae had it's owntwist and I understand that. However it was extremely salty and couldn't really enjoy the dish. Ddeobboki was also not what Iexpected. I understand that it's not the traditional style, however it was very oily and the kimchi (which was too sour in myopinion) didn't go well together. My reason for two stars was actually the service and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Whenwe entered the restaurant we weren't sure whether they were open, some of the seats were closed off, all the food was served intake out paper plates. Didn't feel like the restaurant was ready to take customers. The employees were nice, but I felt likethey needed to focus more on the service and experience itself. I admire how chef Esther is pioneering with Korean food and Iwish all her the best. I leave this review in the hopes of helping and improving their business. Read more

Ordered to-go. I looked at the menu online while commuting via subway to figure out what I wanted to have for lunch. Upon... arriving at the location, a person which turned out to be one of the employees held the door open for me (they also justarrived). Then, I realized there were two separate entry ways. One where customers place and pick-up orders and the other forworkers of the restaurant. There is a good variety of food for people to enjoy. I was recommended to add Bulgogi Ribeye to theRoyal Bibim Bap (7 types of market vegetables on top of grain rice, fried egg, gochujang sauce, gim:dried seaweed, choice ofbulgogi beef, pork, chicken, or tofu). I got a side of Halmoni Dumplings (pork, zucchini, tofu, kimchi, cabbage), a jar ofCucumber Kimchi, as well as a jar of Napa Kimchi to bring home. The food was delicious and my order could have been sharedbetween two people. I will be revisiting to place orders in the future. Ho?cake (crispy bun filled with heavenly pork belly, kimchi hot sauce) is next on my list of foods to try. Read more

After watching Iron Chef: Legends and rooting for Esther Choi kill it as a fellow Brooklynites with couldn?t be more excited to... order from one of her restaurants - Mokbar BK. One of her sous chefs she brought on the show was the main chef from thisrestaurant and she absolutely killed it during the competition! We ordered food on Uber Eats and delivery was very fast (~30minutes). We ordered variety of things - classic ramen just as a baseline, house special kimchi ramen, dumplings and the famousKorean chicken. Below is the review of the food: We started with the Korean chicken and it looked very good. It had this glassytexture although on the bite it did not have the crunch that we were expecting. We ordered it spicy, but there was hardly anybite to the chicken and the seasoning on it was good, but not great. Next we went to the dumpling which was probably the bestpart of the meal. The sauce made them they were steamed to perfections and were overall pleasant. Lastly the biggestdisappointment were the ramen dishes. The broth tasted like it had a years worth of sodium intake in it. Extremely salty.Despite the salt which affected the chef significantly. The meat in both of the dishes was very bland almost boiled, egg did notadd any taste or texture. Noodles were fine. Kimchi was very mediocre (this restaurant suppose to be famous for kimchi). Veryvery disappointing. Maybe we set our bar too high. Seeing Chef Choi present judges with perfect food and them saying that wasthe best food they ever eaten made us dream of it. But the unfortunate reality is that the food wouldn?t just not be worthy ofan excellent restaurant. It wouldn?t be eaten from any restaurant. We tried to like it very hard. Looking for a perfect bite. But sad truth that at best the food was good/ok. At worst with ramen dishes plainly unbeatable. I hope Mokbar will find a way tomeet the expectations they set by appearing on iron chef. Because at this moment the food they are serving is no Read more

The service was generally good and accommodating for a busy Sunday night. We arrived around 8:30 and waited for about 10... minutes. Overall the food wasn't bad. The plating is much nicer than what you would normally get in K-Town, but other than thatI'd need to go back a few more times to see if I appreciate their food more. Otherwise, once in a while it's a good spot to hitup. Extra kudos to the staff simply because they hustled in a busy place, and kept on top of the food, which can get lost inthe bustle. Read more
