okey lets start this one. Location is nice, the service was a lovely lady, you could tell she was a bit overwhelmed by all the... tables but she kept it very cool. The food was great, the Insalata di Cavolini di Bruxelles and the Insalata di Spinacini,Pecorino e Mele was very good, def recommended but the Fritto Misto was a bit too dry for my taste. The tortellini was good agood spice to it but it wasn?t wow, I def wouldn?t get it again. overall a nice beautiful space in the heart of Williamsburg. Read more
The food is horrible, I?m sorry to say. All seafood was overcooked (even the calamari), pasta was just plain bad. Maybe there is... cost-cutting going on but maybe you get what you pay for? Also service was very slow even on a slow night. Would not return ifsomeone paid me. Read more
I was hopeful that with the great reviews, this restaurant would be excellent. However, I was disappointed after coming here. I... ordered the arugula salad which was the best part of the meal. The mussels were mediocre; they were small and pretty dried out.I had ragu for dinner and the flavors were alright but the pasta was quite overcooked. It was a large portion so that was nice! For dessert, I had tiramisu. I try tiramisu at most Italian restaurants that I go to and this one unfortunately was one of myleast favorites. It lacked in flavor and had a fruity sauce, which tasted like cough syrup, drizzled on top of it. I was reallyhoping to love Il Passatore and perhaps I just ordered wrong. Read more
We have eaten many times at this restaurant and the food is always amazing. The service is great and the ambience is perfect to... enjoy a great meal. They also have a nice covered outdoor space in the back that is intimate and quiet. We especially enjoyedthe variety of deserts. The best Italian restaurant in Williamsburg! Read more
We loved our authentic meal at Il Passatore. This is our first visit to Williamsburg and we?re surprised this place was so... affordable for the quality of the food and service. We sat on the covered patio on a warm June Friday evening. We shared thecaprese for an appetizer and then he had the squid ink pasta and I had the carbonara. The flavors and ambience transported usback to Venice. The servings were pretty huge too. The kitchen was trying out a new watermelon panna cotta recipe and offered tolet us try it. I really hope they keep it on the menu for the summer because it was perfectly delicate and had a lovely, intensewatermelon flavor. Enjoy slow food at Il Passatore! Read more
Ill-Fated Il Passatore: I am doubly-flabbergasted, after our poor experience with both food and service to see all of the 5-star... reviews online. On Google, there are a ton of 5-star reviews with zero text. That, along with our experience is quite suspect.(It's easier to program a bot to create accounts, and hit five stars than it is to have them write something that doesn't soundmachine-generated. I looked on Yelp. Same thing. I'm completely dumbstruck! It was even recommended from a friend that lives inWilliamsburg. One review says, "This is probably the only legitimately Italian restaurant I have been to in NYC. They even speakItalian and the menu is in Italian. Love it." There was A LOT of talk between the one of two FOH guys and the kitchen. He spenthalf his time at the pass just yammering away with the chef - NOT in Italian. They were all speaking Spanish, and ignoring theonly customers in the place. The other half of the time they were on their phones - still ignoring the only customers in theplace. We were there for 1.5 hours on a Saturday night, and the place was empty besides us. Even so, we were still squished intothe smallest table. The menu is NOT in Italian. It is 99% English with a few Italian words thrown in. People are so dumb. No oneout of the two FOH, and two BOH people knew anything about any of the wines. We got lucky on our pick, as it was quite good. Itwas the best thing we had. I'm completely shocked that so many reviews use descriptions such as "authentic", "homemade pasta","best Italian in NY". It is the complete opposite. The focaccia bread was average. The Caprese di Bufala seemed like it had beenmade in advance and sitting in the refrigerator. It came out fast, seemed wilted, and old, and the cheese looked like it hadbeen sitting around for a while. The Fritto Misto - (so authentic with the fancy Italian words!) - Pan-fried calamari, rockshrimp & leeks w/spicy tomato sauce dip & fresh lemon was ok. It was the least worst thi Read more
I came here with my partner and unfortunately we were disappointed by the food. The scallops were rubbery, not fresh. The... butternut squash tortelli were quite good, but the carbonara was not. I didn't read the menu carefully enough, because carbonaramade with cream is an indictment on any Italian restaurant. The pancetta in it was overcooked too. We didn't finish the dish. Read more
