Reviews for Faros Restaurant in Brooklyn, NY

[[UPDATE: October 2022]] I want to say better things about this place. It's been a staple in the neighborhood for a long long... time. It only just started to take credit/debit cards (although they make no distinction between the two an charge 3.5% "fee" ontop of the already exorbitant bill (more on that in a bit) if you decide to use a credit/debit card), and their food isconsistently good. Here's the downside of the place. The prices. I just went there for breakfast and got pancakes and sausagesand paid $21. TWENTY-ONE DOLLARS. That's insane for two things that TOGETHER don't cost that much to buy in a supermarket. Areyou paying for the rent (consider again, this is Kensington) or are you paying for the upsell in pricing. I was in there a fewweeks ago and again, TWO very basic entrees for me and another person came out to ~$40. Sorry, but that's insane when literallyjust a few weeks before that same bill would have been half that. Am I saying the restaurant shouldn't make a profit? Not atall. But, I AM saying when they start charging what they're charging now, they are going to see a lot less customers. Already, any time i go in here it's less and less crowded. I suspect once the owner died and his wife and son don't show up to run theplace on a day-to-day basis, whoever is making decisions, is making them to get a maximum profit out of the menu. I fear that'sgoing to lead to less-and-less customers from the neighborhood going. It's a shame since the neighborhood needs good diners. Theone on the other end of Church Avenue near Ocean Parkway, whatever it's calling itself these days, trended this way a long timeago. The prices for some simple and very normal things have gone through the roof there and the food quality was never good tobegin with. It's sad to see this happen. I wonder how long Faros will survive? Delicious, fresh food. Very friendly service. Decent prices. Place is rather small, and decor can use an update, but if you are... only in it for the food it's a definite no-brainer. Just updated their menu. Staff wear masks. Patrons are asked for proof ofvaccination, thoigh policy appears a bit lax. I believe they only do outdoor seating in nicer weather. Read more

Vickie is a great server and somehow holds the entire place down on weekends herself. She was super attentive, and the food was... delicious even though I hate olives and there were a few in my Mexican Omelette despite the menu saying there weren't any.THAT'S how good the service and food is Read more

I stopped by Faros for the first time today since the start of COVID-19. The food and service is still great since the last time... I have eaten here indoors. The place is small and cute and kept very clean. They have a pretty extensive menu and the prices arevery reasonable. Coffee is great here too! Since I live nearby I really need to stop by more often to this great diner. Read more

Was too hungry to realize to take a pic BEFORE I started eating but the breakfast was spot on. The waitress was also super nice.
