My husband and I visited Black Forest on a date night. I had been craving some good comforting German food. And my cravings were... satisfied. Food is delicious! A couple of things to note: - service was pretty bad (it was a Friday evening). - we waited 75minutes for our food. Then,we were told it would be an extra 15 minutes for our goulash dish. - the place is quite noisy so it'sdifficult to have a conversation. - everything is ordered on your phone through bar code scanning. Fun and delicious dinner! Staff are nice and attentive and the food comes out quick and perfectly prepared. They don't skimp on... the portions. Pair it with a beer and you're all set! Outdoor seating is cool, though it's unfortunate that there wereconstruction sounds outside on a Saturday evening, and you also hear the subway rumble by every once in a while but I guess thatcomes with the territory of living in NYC! Nice little bar that offers a lot of options. Came here with a group of friends after work and got some delicious food and... drinks. The portions are huge and we’ll worth it. I’d recommend getting a smaller beer because the sizes are huge andyou’d be able to try out a few options. Looking forward to coming back soon! Read more

Went with a large group of friends and it’s for sure a good, accommodating place for a large gathering. No complaints about... the beer, by anyone. I had the grapefruit beer and it was light and refreshing. As for food, the schnitzel was delicious butother things ordered like the waffles, fries, and omelettes were just okay. The food is delicious and the beer selection is fun. The owner is very kind. We ordered the impossible burger with fries and the... Wurstplatte. The kale salad in particular is really yummy, savory, and a bit spicy. My only complaint is that it’s prettyexpensive. Lunch for 3 people was $100 and we ordered reasonably: 3 beers, 2 people splitting a wurstplatte, and 1 veggieburger. Overall, I would return because of the great ambiance and cozy unique space. Not the place to go if you’re watching calories or cholesterol. Enjoyed the flatbread with bacon and caramelized onions, just... a bit heavy. The cheese wurst was good but also heavy. Good fries. More of a place to grab a beer and snacks with a few friends.Was a little chaotic with a table of 15 sucking up all the energy and attention.
