Service is slow. Plan for an extra 30-40mins for an average meal. Not due to lack of employees like the conveniently placed... plaques that plaster the confusing decor but due to what seems like a lack of training. The bartender is careless in his attemptto get drinks out. There's no drink menus at the tables and staff is unsure what they sell. There's other support staff clearlyin the restaurant but they are not delivering orders, bussing tables, or delivering food regularly. It's almost as if no onereally has any idea what they are doing. Management/ Ownership is lacking in attention to the issue if their idea is to informguests to deal with slow service. The staff was nice and our waitress was trying really hard but clearly has no support. Foodpresentation was very nice and the quality of the food was pretty high which reflects the 3 Star. This place has potentialespecially with the hotel being attached but they really need to step it up for the price point of this restaurant. Read more

My son had reception/dance here. Food was delicious (steak and walleye) and staff did great job. Large banquet hall. Clean.

Let?s just start with I am not the type of person to write a bad review BUT? I would 100% not recommend working with the folks... who run this event center. The center itself has great potential in the beautiful town of Brookings. Unfortunately, my sisterswedding had many many issues that are still trying to be resolved. (Her wedding was June 11?.) First of all, the event centerwas dirty when we got there to set up on Friday. We were told to decorate around it and it was get vacuumed that evening(spoiler alert: it did not?) My dad, stepdad, and several of my sisters GUESTS had to come into the dirty event center to cleanthe morning of the wedding and move tables and chairs that the staff said would get moved. The food we had was refrigeratorcold? the whole head table ate cold pasta. We heard from several other guests that the food was cold or lukewarm at best. Noneof the tables were bussed/cleaned. The head table still had our dirty plates, cups, and FOOD on the table the next morning? thenwhen my sister brought up this issue the owners insinuated that the tables were ?mostly cleaned? and she was making stuff up(she has photos.) A piece of wood trim fell off of the wall and hit a CHILD. My sister and her husband were basically calledliars for bringing up the several issues they endured on the night of their wedding. They had an absolutely beautiful day inBrookings and they wouldn?t change it for the world, but at this time I would suggest finding a more customer service friendlylocation to host your wedding! At this time, I would not recommend Wilbert Square Event Center. They certainly have potential to be a nice venue, but I would... avoid at all costs until some changes have been implemented. What you can expect if your experience is anything like ours, ormany of the previous reviewers: The event coordinator will not attend your event so you are on your own if you need anything theday of the event. The venue floor was filthy dirty with food from a previous event, but they asked us to decorate over it andthey would clean later. They didn't, so our wedding guests helped my ex husband clean the venue the day of the wedding. Thefood was as cold as it would have been taking it straight out of the refrigerator and the pasta was not cooked well (hard andsticky). At least 75% of our guests were served cold food. We were overcharged multiple thousands of dollars, then told thatthe corrected invoice (after requesting the invoice three times over 10 days and not receiving it) was offering us a "steepdiscount" despite our contract showing otherwise. The door frame fell off the wall part-way through the event and landed on asmall child. It had been glued onto the wall with caulk. The venue was extremely hot during our reception, and no one wasaround to help us regulate the temperature. The tables still contained dirty plates of food, beer bottles, glasses and dirtylinens the following day (some was bussed the night of, but much of it was left and even though we have photographs tocorroborate, they didn't believe us). When we brought all of these issues forward after the event, we were given every excuseunder the sun, the event coordinator told us her staff was using us to "sabotage her" and the owners didn't believe any of ourlegitimate concerns (again, as noted, the event coordinator was not on site for any of the event to dispute or corroborate ourconcerns). We asked for a discount for the extremely poor service and terrible food quality as their end of the c Read more
