I ordered a custom birthday cake for my husband and it was great! The woman who took my order on the phone was so sweet and... helpful. I told her my husband loves coconut and she suggested a sponge cake with coconut ice cream on top. Everyone loved it!! Read more
They?re supposed to be open at 10am. But we are here waiting for them to open it is half past 10. We ordered a birthday cake... weeks ago and was told to come when they open at 10am. And no sign of them opening anytime soon. This is ridiculous.... Update:It is now 11am and they are still not open. 2nd time visiting this Carvel on Castle Hill Ave and that same lady(possible owner) was there again She was transferring old ice... cream from a container into the big ice cream tube to resell(unsanitary) and after seeing this I requested a fresh soft serveice cream cone from the machine. The rude woman told me she had frozen ones in the freezer behind me and I replied I can not eathard ice cream can I have a fresh soft serve cone and rudely replied NO. So I will never return to this rude business owner'sestablishment. That is why this place is empty. . Read more
I think pretty highly of not only the chain but this place itself. The staff was pretty friendly and we had no problems with our... order. This chain on Castle Hill isn't a very big one, so if it gets crowded, it may become a bit hectic, but it's worth thewait for some top quality ice cream. Read more
Update: My sister was able to get a full refund and an apology from the place in the Bronx, the day after I made the initial... post. She purchased another Carvel cake in NJ. Open and inspect your purchase beforeleaving the business. I would not give it any stars if that was an option. My sister came all the way from New Jersey and got acake for my 11 year old son with autism. Carvel cakes was the norm for family. It has been a family tradition for many years forall the children. My Sister use to go to the Carvel on Fordham Road and Webster Ave. to get the cakes. I am not sure why shewent to Castle Hill this time. We were so utterly disgusted after I began to cut the cake, once we sang happy birthday to myson. I wanted to vomit. Would y'all believe there was a roach sitting on the cardboard cake plate just under the cake. As youcan see, the roach wasn't touching the cake but it was in the box with the cake. So there was no cake to be had. My autistic soncouldn't understand why he couldn't have cake. He had the worst meltdown/tantrum. As I am typing this, he is still yelling andharassing me about cake. He doesn't understand that he couldn't have any of that cake because of the roach. FYI The place wasclosed by the time I cut the cake and saw the roach. My sister is gonna take it back and get her money Sunday. Needless to say,we won't be patronizing that business anymore. Read more
