Just happened upon this place driving through Bridgeport and decided to give it a try. Glad we did. It was really good - I... would say beat out alot of the more expensive places you find in downtown Fairfield. Very deep and varied menu, with lots ofwhat looked like authentic Portuguese dishes. We got several including Bulhao Clams (great!), Octous salad, grilled quail,Grilled Branzino, and Espetada Con Linguica. Found all the dishes well prepared and tasty. dined in on 5/28 for a table of about 9 people. made a reservation for 8pm, we did not receive our food until 10:30pm. I'll give... it two stars because I have enjoyed this restaurant multiple times before and the food is tasty- but I would never expect towait this long for a meal.. although the owner thinks a 2hr wait for food is acceptable. we will never be going back,considering the wait and disrespect from the owner. I had bragged to my family about this place, so I took them on a holidayweekend w/ a reservation. first- the clams are delicious- but the portion was half it's normal. quite disappointing. Next, afterwaiting 2hrs for our meals, a steak was overcooked and a hair found in the risotto. Lastly, I ordered the "grilled" octopuswhich came out Luke warm, not grilled, in a bed of oil. When I asked to speak to the person in charge, it took 20 minutes for awoman to come to our table and state, "who would like to talk to me? I've been busy in the kitchen". I then raised my hand andstated I was the one who would like to speak to her. now, I had all intentions of giving constructive criticism (because I haveenjoyed this place before), but unfortunately the owner came toward me very defensively. Again, stating a 2hr wait is to beexpected and normal, she also said we should have canceled the table and left. (mind you my family from our of state was herecatching up at 10pm on a Saturday night, no where else would have been able to accommodate this many people short notice.). Shetook my meal off the bill and gave us a bottle of sangria- not sure that balances out my $500+ bill and 2+ hrs of my lifewasted. I just wanted to let the public know, if you go here, expect a longer than usual wait. Sadly, I am extremely turned offby the way the owner handled herself, it was the icing on the cake for me. New favorite watering hole and food place. Great ambiance, the most attentive staff you could ever find. They have outside... sitting and the Portuguese food is to die for. Here you can see The Paella Valenciana, the Caldo Verde with Brocolli Rabe andthe Branzino. Delicious Caipirindas and a great selection of beers and imported drinks. Highly recommend!! Read more
We had a wonderful dinner there while traveling through the area. The atmosphere was wonderful, very clean and well maintained.... Loved the tables with the thick natural wood. The service and food was wonderful. The "Polvo A Brasa Com Camarao" (Octopusand Shrimp with potatoes) was a huge serving and prepared to my liking. My wife enjoyed the Medalhao Com Risotto (Beefmedallions with risotto) while my daughter enjoyed the Picanha Skewer (Steak served with rice, farofa and salad). Everythingabout this experience made us happy about this choice as we passed through CT on our way to Mass. Hope to be back soon. ps- Thelive music on a Thurs evening made it really festive too! Beautiful, cleanest bathroom and great food. Loved the Bacalhau rolls...Kenya was the greatest waitress...but the main dish took... so long that I got full off the appetizer the Portuguese bread with a tuna fish deep like...awesome ...main dish : sea foodspecial and T'bone. 1st time...but because of the food and the stuff will go back. Really authentic feel to this Portuguese restaurant. Don't know much about Bridgewater but came here for a Sunday afternoon... hockey game with the family and found this restaurant. What a pleasant surprise. We have been going to Portugal for the last twoyears for vacation and coming here brought me right back to that wonderful country.
