Fantastic experience at Roost. The food came out of the kitchen promptly and very fresh. The Mac and cheese is so creamy. That... true southern style food is hard to find in Montana but this place manages to fill that craving. The salad was very fresh andhad lots of toppings for those who are looking for the lighter side of things. Roost also offers shredded rotisserie chickeninstead fried chicken. Read more

Roost fried Chicken was pretty good. The kids especially loved it. While it was not my favorite fried chicken of all time I... would not hesitate to come back. I had the sweet heat and it was pretty good. The location and facility was pretty great and Ithad a good atmosphere. I wish I could have tried all the different sauces. Read more

Meh. We had such high hopes after seeing it on DDD and we were totally let down. The fried chicken was FANTASTIC and there is no... questioning that. The crispy skin, flavor and juiciness were perfect. Would eat this everyday if possible. Everything else weordered was bland and not exciting at all. The popper bowl lacked a lot. The fried okra (side) was not the best and the gritsneeded flavoring. The bacon was the best part about those. The sweet heat sauce was super weird and watery, shouldn?t have paidextra. The honey mustard was pure mustard and very overwhelming. Plus they also forgot to add to my dish so we had to tracksomeone down to get it. Probably won?t rely on Guy for recs after this one. Got the chicken and waffles with the ?sweet heat? flavor. Chicken was absolutely phenomenal and I was stuffed by the end of the... meal. A bit spicy with a good sweetness and super juicy. Also got a side of the macaroni and cheese and biscuits. The macaroniwas good but nothing exceptional. The biscuits were on the blander side but make a great vehicle for sopping up juices. Overallwould recommend! Read more

I was excited to try this place after reading all the great reviews. I shouldn't have put my hopes up so high. The staff was... nice, I'll give them that. Cleanliness was ok at best. The staff did go around cleaning tables but I saw customers washingtheir hands at the drink station. KID'S MEAL: Caprisun, chicken nuggets and like 8 french fries. Leaves your kiddo wantingmore. 2 PIECE CHICKEN MEAL: Chicken was cooked well, but unfortunately it lacked in flavor. You could tell seasoning wassomewhere in the vicinity while it was being cooked and the chicken caught some of it. The biscuits were white, stuck to theroof of your mouth, and they tasted like tap water. Im not sure how that happens, but they were bland. Undercooked?Anyway. The mac and cheese was ok, though it also lacked in flavor but was rescued by the bacon bits and green onions that areserved with it. The mashed potatoes are good if you just like the taste of pepper with a hint of potatoes. Maybe I'll give itanother shot one day. But for now, KFC has a better rating based off of this experience. I hate to leave such a low review for such a high potential place. First I have to say the food for the most part is great. The... deviled eggs are fantastic and even the bit of crispy bacon piece makes it stand out. When you get a good piece of chicken, it'sout of this world and the flavor is great. Other pieces though seem almost under cooked? They stick hard to the bone and feelsso much to work around in your mouth just to get a good bite. Lot of cartilage? Then we have the breads. The bread is just aplain jane piece of Mrs. Baird's (I didn't get a sandwich so it may be different on that.) And the biscuits I can't evencomplain about because they were only 50c anyway. But you can tell they're 50c if you know what I mean. The price was a bithigher than I hoped, especially for such a let down on the mashed potatoes. They were good, but they aren't even top 10 for me.The chicken is good but it shouldn't be hard to make great. That being said it's probably the best place to eat aroundBozeman. Lastly the service was just sad. Three college kids and no real management or leadership in sight. I'm in collegemyself, so don't take me on the wrong foot but when I say there was 7 people in line and no one at the front register for 5+minutes I mean I started checking my phone to make sure I wasn't just being impatient. (I didn't get my full order so I waswaiting just to ask someone.) The reason we all waited so long is one of the employees walked away from the front when anothercalled him to the back and I heard him say, "I'm not taking orders, I'm just waiting on you." Then later another employee askedif "there's anything I need to do before I scidaddle" ... It was 6:30 and they closed at 7. Still about a dozen customers inhouse. Just seems they lack leadership and quality control. This place could be so much better Read more

I love a place that does one thing and does it great. It goes without saying that the chicken is great but I'd say the tenders... were the surprising one. I figured tenders are tenders but these were better than any other I've had. We had a group of four soa variety of sides. They were all good and we all had a different favorite so kind of depends on what you like. The okra wasamazing, the collard greens are on the vinegar side, but probably the highlight of appetizers were the pork rinds. That was notmy choice but I decided to try them and they were pretty amazing. Not greasy at all. If you're considering the pork rinds, doyourself a favor and just order them! Read more
