We visited Boston for a few days. While staying at the Intercontinental on Atlantic we visited RumBa in the hotel. It's known... for champagne and cocktails. The decor is lovely, while tables are spaced for social distancing it didn't affect the ambiance. The added space was a bonus! Making for a more intimate gathering with my girlfriend. We celebrated her birthday withchampagne and some appetizers before heading off to dinner. A truly nice addition to our stay. All aspects from the service tothe food and drinks were delightful. My boyfriend and I stopped in to this hotel bar while on our walk somewhere else when the awful weather brought us to this bar... for a break. We are glad we did! Overall we had a good experience. The drinks were good and we were happy to see one of ourfavorite beers on tap. The atmosphere is cozy with a fireplace on one side and floor to ceiling windows on the other overlookingthe water. The only reason for the 4 stars vs 5 stars is because the bartender acted like we were bothering him. Read more
Great spot inside the hotel for a night cap or before dinner drink (or to hang out). Bartenders were attentive.
RumBa is highly dependent on what bartenders are working. We initially sat down with David, who poured us two rum flights. We... asked about the rums we were tasting. He pointed at the menu and told us to read it. Great, thanks. No passion, no conversation,just slinging drinks from that guy. We talked about leaving. I can get that kind of service for less $ in a lot of otherplaces. Then Vee showed up. Vee is super passionate about rum, rum drinks, and educating you about it all. By the end of thenight, we were all ordering "ideas" like "I want something rum, no fruit, and not sweet" and he'd make a drink that even we hadnever heard of. We chatted with him about the types and brands of rum and he is a wealth of knowledge. Nice looking place but couldn?t get a drink even with 4 people working there and only 7 customers. Bartender actually told me I... needed to wait while he restocked! What are the other 3 guys doing, supervising?! Read more
