I've lived in this neighborhood for a number of years. Today was my first time trying Asta and I can't believe it's taken this... long for me to have this experience. I can't wait to come back. Even on a Valentine's day, a day notorious for half heatedservice and poor seating arrangements at most restaurants, my girlfriend and I had an amazing time enjoying the 6-course meal,wine pairing, and extras. I can't recommended this place enough. If you have the opportunity to sit up front at the bar topsnear the kitchen, do it! I made a reservation to this place for my birthday. Earlier I have been to few similar places with the tasting menu such as... Sarma, and have loved the experience. They were doing an Vegan month special tasting menu which excited me more. I had to paymuch more than other such places too. They have 10 course meal with spread of appetiser, soup, entrées and desserts. I wouldsay it all looked really nice. But I wasn’t too surprised with 4-5 of their courses. It tasted alright. Last three were myfavourites but by then my stomach was full and I was already disappointed to have paid for such an expensive dinner. I thinkthey should improve the first half of their menu to make it taste better and to provide an experience of an unexpected taste tocustomer. Not worth the money spent. I had an all around outstanding dinner at Asta. The food is creative and unique without feeling pretentious and everything in... our tasting menu was delicious. We did the wine pairings and I was impressed with some unexpected combinations that I reallyenjoyed. The service was lovely and it felt special to watch the whole team at work in the open kitchen. Asta was a fantastic experience. Our hostess was graceful yet fun and attentive. It was a pleasure to watch Chef Alex Crabb and... his team in live action exciting every dish perfectly but unpretentiously. Although all courses were good, the ravioli, thebass, and the foie gras blew my mind. The cherry tart dessert with the dipping sauce was some other level!!! Wine paring wasspot on. During the almost 2.5 hours we spent there, the passion of the chef and his entire team was very obvious. Stronglyrecommended. Read more
Pretty awesome dining experience, but like a lot of others have said we were served a lot of root vegetables, which bothers me... from a value perspective. We got the 5 dish tasting and dishes were delicious and wine pairings were great! We got the foie Grasadd on and split one order for two, which was plenty. Food was plentiful too! I would consider visiting again to try adifferent menu, the server mentioned the menu rotates about every 6 weeks so maybe in the spring we'll try again. Read more
The place is very nice and the service exquisite. Every dish was nicely presented. For me it wasn't a 5 star because everything... was really good but none of the dishes blew my mind. The menu changes often so I'm sure they have amazing dishes. Out ofeverything we had the scallops with capers was probably my favorite. Read more
We got the 8 course + wine pairing and the food was incredible. Expertly prepared lamb, wonderful cherry souffle for dessert,... and intriguing smoked beer and smoked tea beverages (in addition to the wine) to complement the dishes. The service was verygood and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Read more
