Hi I came in here for brunch with my gf and I was blown away. I started my meal off with the Maple Old Fashioned and it was... perfect. I ordered the fresh toast and they were the most fluffy and delicious pieces of FT that have ever entered my mouth. Wehad the home fries as well and they were perfectly flavored and cooked. This is a normal guy review with normal pics. Nothingfancy. Meal and atmosphere was AMAZING. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Read more

Great vibe and food. Waking distance to public garden. We had it during the Boston restaurant week and the food of choice was... satisfied. Read more

A cozy French-inspired restaurant with great vibes and average food. We came here for dinner on a Friday night with a same day... reservation. The place was half-full, and there seemed to be plenty of tables available for walk-ins. A lot of their menus wereclassic French dishes, and our favorites were the mushroom canapé, bolognese, and the moule frites. The filet mignon wasunfortunately a bit of a downer as its texture felt more like a braised beef. Cacio E Pepe also tasted flat, and we had a hardtime finishing the plate. While we weren’t impressed with the food overall, we liked the service and the atmosphere thatreminded us of enjoying a home cooked meal. Definitely recommend going here for the vibes, but you might not be satisfied withthe food. Read more

Upon visiting 1928, you're greeted well and the ambience is nice, but that's where the positives end and the high prices stem.... I'll be honest, I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was sub-par for the price you will be paying. Food is mediocre atbest, but most hyped Boston eateries are on the real... Service was fine, so for the other reviews that roasted this place forthat, I and my party experienced good service. The food was well over priced, the burger looked like something a fast casualplace, the Cacio El Pepe was very watery for something that should be creamy if done right... Bolognese was okay at best, nothing better than you would get at the north end for less. The drinks also left a lot to be desired. Nothing spoke to me as abig whiskey drinker, specifically bourbon, so opted for my usual sours and old fashioned. Let me tell you, the sour tasted likesomething you would have at a dive bar. Not knocking dive bars either, but for the price and location, I expect some egg whiteand angostura. The old fashioned could have been better too. The lesson of the day is this, if you like neat furniture and niceambience, and are willing to pay a premium for just that, then by all means, this is the place for you! But if food, and drinkmean something to you, look elsewhere. Read more

Great looking intimate space. Some of the tables are in really bad spots. Went for brunch. It was their first weekend of brunch.... Bloody Mary was just a bottled mix but the bartender said he was working on his own. Had the short rib hash. It was over cookedand mediocre. Maybe some growing pains or just mediocre. Didn’t take pictures of food or drinks, they weren’t worth takingpictures of. I’ll give them another try after they do a few more brunches. Bartender Pedro was the only redeeming part of thevisit. Made a reservation for a romantic date and we were seated in the lounge area- nowhere to put a coat or purse, right next to the... door. The atmosphere was nice, but much more casual than I thought it would be, based on the website, menu prices, andrestaurant design. Our service was very slow, even though it wasn’t very busy- 20 mins to order, and our appetizers showed upbefore our drinks. My partner ordered a burger without cheese and it came with cheese on, and the waiter rang up my Filet Mignontwice. They were very accommodating about my Celiac Disease, which is excellent and very appreciated. The “This Side ofParadise” was a great cocktail, but not worth paying over $15 for. The deviled eggs were unique: heavy on the mustard/ maybeeven with a little vinegar, so they were tart, but a great app! The filet was excellent, seasoned and cooked well, but servedwith some kind of barbecue sauce which was an interesting choice. My partner liked their burger, but didn’t think it wasanything OUTRAGEOUSLY good. Overall, the food was good, but not worth the Beacon Hill prices. If you’re looking for standardAmerican and cocktails, I suggest you go to Harvard Gardens on Cambridge Street- more affordable and better service. Read more
