Reviews for Gateway 1890 Taphouse & Grill in Blaine, WA
We only went here because the Italian place across the street was PACKED, and we didn\'t want to wait\nIt was not bad. ... Clean, nice place. We sat on the upstairs patio, which was comfortable.\nOur server did a good job. Large beer selection, mostly bottles. And the food was good. Read more
This place was amazing! We got dinner first in the restaurant before going out to the beer garden to enjoy the live music. My... friends and I split the fish and chips, the burger, and the pulled pork sandwich, and everything was delicious. The service wasattentive and friendly, Susan was one of the nicest servers I\'ve ever met. We will definitely be back very soon! Read more

Good tap list - not filled up with IPAs like some other pubs in the area. Huge international bottle and can selection. I had the... Plover fish sandwich and I was not at all disappointed. Even the fries on the side were amazing - thick cut curly fries, if youcan imagine!\nP.S. their music selection is ????\nEdit 7/14/22: been here several times now. The service is always good, andthere hasn\'t been anything on the menu I would not get again. I get my growler filled here often as well. Tried the roastedBrussels tonight and loved them! Read more
Four of us came here for dinner on a Saturday and it wasn?t too crazy, which was nice. We were able to grab a table right away... and our server came to us quickly. Overall, we enjoyed our time here. Growing up in Blaine, it?s really nice to see more localbusinesses popping up!\n\nPros: Quick service, good selection of beers and ciders, staff was knowledgeable about the tapselections, fries were fresh and delicious, the 1890 burger was perfect, and I love that they decorated with old photos ofBlaine and local street name signs.\n\nCons: Our server was not at all friendly, but we gave him the benefit of the doubt thatmaybe it had been a long shift or something else was going on and service is usually better (not a great first impressionthough). On a nice summer day, it is hot and sticky inside?recommend eating outside (tables were taken, so not an option for us)since they don?t seem to have AC. Opening the doors would be a nice way to let that breeze off the water in on warm days! I wasdisappointed with the fish and chips. You get a lot of batter and very little fish, which was a bummer because the fish wasfresh! Most of the pieces were soggy as well.\n\nOverall, definitely a better option than the Subway that used to be there and anice spot for a drink and a burger! Read more
If you are looking for beer flights this is your stop. The staff is top notch and with minimal guidance can surprise you with... flavors to rock your taste buds. Check out the Tikka masala egg rolls. Read more
My first visit here was rough in few areas but I can tell that once the kinks are worked out, it will be an easy four or five... star visit.\nQuick summary; good quality overall, great staff, nice beer and cider selection, some hiccups due to being new.Slightly cozy and may have trouble with larger groups.\n\nWe arrived shortly after opening and the place was already filling upquickly. The newly redone decor is nice, hard to believe it used to be a Subway. Two large TVs at the bar offer entertainmentbut the overall noise of the restaurant was relaxed. Service was a little slow likely due to how busy they were but the staffwere handling it well.\n\nThe menu is currently limited but notes they\'ll be expanding it soon. Current pricing is competitivewith the area with kids plates at $6.95, mini plates at $8.95, small plates at $12.95, and main plates at $15.95. I thought thepricing seemed high until we received our food. Their burgers star in many of the menu items in one fashion or another, for goodreason too.\n\nOur appetizer, the \'Trash Can\' Loaded \'Tot\'chos, had good, crispy tots, and a nicely flavored sauce. I thinkthe ground beef needed more seasoning but it was cooked fresh (other restaurants, take notes!)\n\nMy \"Tower Burger\" was veryfilling and good quality. I had skipped lunch today and I still barely finished it. Two large and juicy burger patties werecooked about medium to medium rare (just right as far as I\'m concerned). My only critiques is the burger quickly becameunwieldy and messy and the cheese was quickly lost in the other flavors, perhaps a very sharp cheese would suit better.\nIsubbed my fries for a side salad which was nice but wasn\'t the \"Backyard Greens\" salad I thought I\'d ordered. I\'ll seekclarification next visit but they were kind enough to quickly bring me some goat cheese and a missing salad dressing. One of ourorders was missed too but that was also quickly remedied.\n\nOverall, Gateway 1890 is a good addition to Bl Read more
I visited Gateway 1890 on a Thursday evening with my wife and her two sisters. The restaurant was moderately busy with ample... seating. Our server was absolutely FANTASTIC! She offered us samples of what was on tap and did not seem to mind allowing usto identify the drafts we finally selected. Our food choices were pot stickers, a burger, salad and poutine. All of which waswonderful and very tasty. Our meals were served quickly and hot. I was very impressed with this place and would recommend it toanyone and I plan on going back! Read more
