Independent chef-run restaurant with a small daily menu. Surprisingly, there was no crowd on a weeknight, which we were thankful... for. We had the smoked salmon and spinach quiche and the mushroom risotto. For dessert, the ribbon cake in the picture.Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The quiche was especially good. I've never had a quiche that was so lightand moist and custardy. We were served by the chef, and she was very nice and helpful. We've never been to a restaurant likethis before, and we're looking forward to returning. Read more
This place is an authentic French experience and Claude is a great chef! Home-made authentic Ratatouille, quiche lorraine,... pumpkin bisque, beef bourginiognon, and not to mention the baguette, and the cafe latte is absolutely to die for! Read more

Had some errands to run in Downtown Birmingham, and thought I?d stop in to check out The French Lady. It also happens to be... restaurant week in Birmingham, so they had items not always on their menu. I asked Claude, the owner, to choose my lunch forme, and I?m so happy I did. She chose Cassoulet for me, a white bean casserole with sausage and beef. My understanding is eachregion in France claims this dish to be their specialty, with their own little tweaks and changes. I?m so glad I let her choose,because I would have never selected this. It was fabulous - slow cooked over 14 hours. They buy their ingredients from small,locally owned farms. Yum! ???? And their cherry custard tart (made with Michigan tart cherries) was amazing. OK so this was a new adventure for me and my godson. We are trying new culture of food. This was a new flavor. My godson was... not the biggest fan but I thought it was OK. What an amazing restaurant and a truly authentic French dining experience. Before I talk about the food my wife and I enjoyed I... feel I must give my hats off to the honor and chef for a phenomenal job. She informed us ahead of time that due to somestaffing issues she was there by herself. Please understand that servicing a nearly full restaurant full of patrons by yourselfwhen you are cooking everything from scratch is no small feat. On to the food. My wife and I decided to split a mushroom andgoat cheese quiche and salad as an appetizer. This was the most delicate, rich, and delightful quiche I've ever had. Ourappetizer was followed by a cod dish and an oven baked chicken dish. Both were prepared to perfection and very well seasoned.The food presentation was incredible as we both expected. This was our first time here, as my wife decided to take me here formy birthday dinner. This is a restaurant that you must experience multiple times, as to me you changes often. Our first time at this hidden gem was phenomenal. The food (quiche and crepes + salad) + cherry tart dessert..was to die for,... sooo good. You can tell the food was made with passion and love. Claude is very friendly and takes a lot of pride in the menuand the food she presents. We haven't been to a 5 star restaurant in a while, and if I could give it more than 5 stars, Iwouldn't hesitate.
