This place was absolutely AMAZING! The food was 10/10. The staff is friendly and the owner was so sweet and helpful. You have... the option to sit inside or out. We chose outside. They have heaters for and when it's cold outside. I highly recommend. Read more

The Takoyaki was delicious, melt-in-your-mouth good!! Sushi was exceptionally good. This may be a new favorite sushi spot for... me! Also the live music was amazing!! They had an awesome jazz sax player that night. 10/10 will definitely come again! Read more
Food was delicious, service was great! The sushi roll is called ?the Karen roll? so I had to order it ????
Great food, but pretty pricey for portions. Staff was nice. Table was sticky and pretty small, but otherwise was clean.
???????????????????????????? ? RESTAURANT? ?UMAMI? ???????????????????????????? THE SPOT ???????????? UMAMI 2808 7th Ave S... #117 Birmingham, AL 35233 This place is fairly new and located in the Lakeview area of Birmingham where the old Babalu was. Iknow we all miss Babalu. I hate Miss Rona took her out the game! ???? ????My Order???? Tacos ???? ?? Crispy Chicken (asianslaw, mango salsa, cilantro, lime) ?? Spicy Flank Steak (mixed greens, quail egg, sweet spicy thai dressing) ?? Crispy Shrimp(asian slaw, sweet & spicy sauce, cilantro, lime) Sushi ???? ?? LakeView Roll (shrimp, tempura, cream cheese, spicy sauce, topped with crab stick, spicy mayo, masago, sweet soy-reduction) Okay so who doesn?t love a taco?!! ???????? ??I?ll start withthe best taco out of the 3 I tried. That Crispy shrimp. Whewwww, everything on it works together for the good of your tastebuds. Hear me when I say it?s that sweet & spicy sauce for me! Lawdddd. Even though it?s only one piece of shrimp on it, thepiece is so big you think it?s more than that. I promise you won?t have any disappointments with this one. ??Now let?s talkabout the Crispy chicken. It was delicious as well but that mango salsa didn?t hit like the sweet & spicy sauce on the shrimp. But it definitely did what needed to be done as well. The chicken was fried just right and actually had some seasoning on it.Even if it didn?t, the sauce and Asian slaw combination would?ve made up for it. ??The Spicy Flank steak taco is unique. Thequail egg does it for me surprisingly. Because come on now, an egg on a taco? Where they do that at? ????but I promise it?sgood! The dressing on it had a nice little taste to it, but this would be my least favorite out of the 3 I tried. ??I know alot of people don?t like sushi but if you like shrimp and crab? try the LakeView roll! She?s more on the pricey side ($17) butit was so worth it. Everything they had on it made it just melt in your mouth ???? it did not disappoint. Shout out Read more
All in all pleasant but not my type of food. I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian with vegan tendencies. I got a warm recommendation for... this place but had to realize that pescatarians call themselves vegetarians nowadays. Looking at the menu and customers aroundme, I could tell that this might be the place to have casual seafood in Bham. Unfortunately, the pickings for me were slim anddid not come with the umami that the name promised. The best was an Avocado taco in a salad leaf, the tempura brussel sproutswere undercooked and drowned in batter, and the tempura fried potatoes were limp and unseasoned. The highlight was a cedarsmoked Old Fashioned that at first looked like a gimmick, was then overly smokey but morphed after a few minutes into a palatetickler. If you eat dairy and fish, you will most likely make this a regular stop. (I believe the only vegan choice is Edamame.) Read more
