Lovely space in downtown Birmingham This was a post brunch stop for a cup of coffee. I did have to wait a few minutes after... entering before being greeted, but I?ll give allowances since it was a bit early and they may have been setting up. On the otherhand, I did get a great table with a window view! Read more

Burger is good. The Pasta with shrimps a bit expensive and the steak a bit small. But everything has a good taste. And service... is really gentle! Also nice choice of wines. Read more

The food was good. Had a unique flair to it. For example, the fried okra is not the cut up, breaded and fried. Instead the okra... was sliced and fried. It was really good. The Salmon was the best! I waited at the bar as they prepared the food. The bartenderwas fun, talkative and kind. Service was good and the food was better. I highly recommend eating here. Came back to differentpeople and even nicer crew. They have Southern hospitality done right!! Read more

The prices made my eyes water but I got over it and ordered the salmon. It was very simply prepared but one of the best pieces... of salmon I?ve ever had. How do chefs get their fish cooked but still completely moist throughout? Maybe it?s low temperatureroasting. In any case it was fantastic and served hot as was the rice pilaf that accompanied it with green beans and Brusselssprouts mixed in. The rice was completely separate and fluffy. How dey do dat? Excellent. Read more

I took my wife to this restaurant for our 20th anniversary on November 13th biggest disappointment. I rate The Yard ?the Most? ?... The Most Disappointing restaurant in Birmingham AL. . I would never recommend this restaurant for a friend who is looking forfine dining. A good joke on a friend of my enemy? Perhaps!!! My wife ALWAYS pick the best restaurant/ hot new spots. And I waspraying this spot would give ME a WIN, NOPE! We ordered and a small plate app, The Caesar salad, Bourbon tomato soup, butternutsquash risotto and some sort of chicken dinner, and an international bottle of wine. Let me start with the atmosphere- PERFECT!Great for cute date night photos to post to Instagram or just trying to impress the wife. The wine cellar was a perfectbackground for my wife and I 20 year anniversary photos. The STAFF- The bar and wait staff is manage by a husband and wife duotwo ginger head people- who personality resemble that of a dead battery teddy rubskin? stuffed bear. Or Better worse a see-n-saywho makes ?the cow says moo? for every animal but the COW. The husband was NOT familiar with the wine list making food pairing aguessing game- And the wife who apparently knew was too occupied with other non-existing guess to help. they ignore allNon-white patrons often passing by several times before recognizing you, The food experience was rushed, we received ourappetizers and salads in the same sitting, red wine glasses was given for water glasses, Then linen was more of a polyesterblend, and THE SILVERWARE!!!! let?s talk about THE FOOD! Shall WE! It was less than below average, the best part of the meal wasthe fire grill Caesar salad, the appetizer was SO subpar- I do not remember what we order- I do know it was over cooked. TheTOMATO SOUP-was SO THICK!!! How thick was it? It needed meatballs and pasta! the butternut squash risotto! The risotto was soover cooked- it would make for a great plaster agent in a paper mache and the mushroom sauce was more like a pas Read more

First time visiting the yard and I must say I was surprisingly pleased with my meal. The drinks were good. The pork belly and... elk burger had a nice flavor to it. Our server was very nice and helpful with suggestions on the menu. Read more

I stopped by to eat here again as I picked up a 20% off coupon. On the way in I had the honor of running into the executive chef... and thanked her for the delicious food from my prior visits. I was given multiple menus and poured over them for a while beforedeciding on Steak & Greens for an entree and a Spring Smash cocktail. They were both incredibly delicious and I enjoyed everysip and bite. I went a bit all out and tried out panna cotta for the first time. Unsurprisingly, it was rich in flavor andmelted in my mouth. I'll admit that service had been iffy the past few times I've visited, but this time it was courteous andspeedy. I believe my server's name was Eric - he was patient while I looked over the menus, checked in with me multiple times, and ensured I had the best experience possible. I had failed to realize that the coupon I had excluded alcohol and I ended upspending a bit more than I expected, but I still thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at The Yard. Hope to come back again someday! Read more
