This was a great surprise. We came into town for an appointment and just googled restaurants in the area. Everything tasted so... yummy. I ordered a chicken shawarma wrap, grape leaves, baba ganoush, and falafels. Before we left we had to have pistachiobaklava which was to die for. Our next trip to Birmingham we will stop here again. For such a highly rated place I sure was expecting more and left a bit disappointed. The falafel was tasty and had some nice... spice to it, but it was nothing out of ordinary or memorable. The ambiance of the restaurant is very low key, I asked for aplate for sit in and they packaged it to go.. while I was eating there, the staff behind the counter were - what seemed to be -arguing with their manager on their cleaning shifts right in front of customers. I can't get enough, and I dont go often enough. Every time I go its packed. The food never disappoints. Simple, authentic taste.... Just plain good! The pictures don't do the food justice. I either start digging in forgeting to take a pic or it's so fullinside I go outside to eat at the cafe sidewalk tables and the sun???? is blaring causing a shadow???? from my phone. I'm sorry!It still looks???? good. My daughter got "Chicken Shawarma " I got "Hummus, Falafal, Pita Bread, Fries and sandwich topping..onion n pickled veggies" . If your ever in Birmingham.. in the downtown, hospital area... check them out. This time we went, wewalked from the Jefferson County Courthouse ????, yup a half n hour walk... and could have drove 7 min... ????????????.
