Cracker Barrel is normally good for home cooking. Breakfast is delicious, great food for the soul and body. But the last two... times were problems. Both times the parking lot was only about half full. But both times yet when I asked the hostess for atable for two, she said there would be a 45 - 50 minute wait. There were only two couples waiting for a table. I left. I'mguessing the reason for the parking lot being half empty was that others also left instead of waiting nearly an hour. The timefor Covid excuses is way past. There is no other restaurant in Billings that has this problem. We went to another restaurantand were immediately seated. This is a MANAGEMENT problem, not a Covid problem. It could be the local management or the areamanagement. But the problem is definitely that of management. so I'd never been to a cracker barrel in my 21 years of life until this year and I just have to say what a nice first... impression! the general store is like a little wonderland with toys, snacks, candles, among many other goods. the actual diningarea is super spacious and comfortable. the waitress who assisted us was so kind and really helped make the atmosphere what itwas- wish i could shout her out. food was cooked perfectly- delicious as well as the drink i got. looking forward to comingagain! Let me preface this with I've never had an issue with the quality of the food here. BUT, when we have been seated for a while,... and another couple comes in and orders the same thing we did, but get theirs first? That is an issue for me. And we were seatedmaybe 15 min BEFORE they came in. Not cool... Neither server seemed to care too much but our main server did give us our tea atno charge. Looking for free stuff isn't my thing. Staff was super nice. Gift shop is always fun and reasonably priced. Food deliver was very fast. Cream cheese pancakes were... really good. Country fried steak was decent but portions were definitely smaller than they used to be. Fries had good seasoningand were week cooked. Chicken fingers were a hit with my kids and they are chicken strip officianados. Watermelon lemonade has aton of flavor like a jolly ranch. Generic chocolate milk was, well, generic. Our first time there. It has a great. A gift shop with lots of unique items and priced fairly was attached to the restaurant and... fun to look through before eating. The food was excellent and there was plenty of it and also priced fairly. Then there was ourwaiter........a man who seemed to be very bothered that we were there. He forgot items, we would remind him and he would say ohyeah and then we had to keep reminding him again and again. Several times in fact. Very irritating. Needless to say he did notget tipped!! I haven't been to cracker barrel in ages because it's a bit out of the way to go. But man is it worth it. The staff was... phenomenal and even though they were busy, they still did their job and did it well. Even watched as one sanitized a table aftera customer left. Bonus points for keeping it clean during the pandemic. Now on to the food. It was filling and adequatelypriced. The food isn't glammored up like some other places, but it looks like home cooked food. Wish I could of gotten a bitmore fries though because they were delicious. If the food isn't a good enough reason to stop by, then their gift shop is.Filled with odds and ends, from children's toys to clothing, this place had an assortment of goods that had me spending a bitmore on presents for others. I was hesitant because so many people say it's so amazing. I honestly thought I would be let down, but I definitely wasn't! A... lot of the times when there's a ton of hype it doesn't live to expectations, but Cracker Barrel definitely does. The waitressand staff were also amazing I am honestly not exaggerating.
