Had a terrible experience. I’m part of an inter-racial couple and our service at the restaurant was unacceptable and makes me... want to scream. I first went in alone to check us in. Helped right away, no issues. My wife and I then arrive for dinner and wewere ignored by the hostess for 20 min. Not given water at our table for another 10 minutes. Had to raise our hand to put in ourorder (ordered everything at once cause we were not sure when we’d be helped again). The waitress wouldn’t engage with us,many people that came in to the restaurant after us received their food before we were served our drinks. My shrimp scampi wasan absolute salt bomb and my wife’s ribeye was so raw it was not safe to eat. This type of food and service was enough to makeus cut our time here from 3 night down to one. We left first thing in the morning. Not to mention, the cabins DO NOT FEEL SAFE!Hopefully the short man with slicked back hair and tall blond woman are fired and they are able to restaff. We will never beback. Read more

Did not stay at the lodge but picked this spot for lunch randomly while enjoying the long scenic drive up highway 1 and was not... disappointed. Only complaint was it was a bit pricey for lunch but what the heck how often am I out that way. Atmosphere wasgreat. Nice looking interior but the outside seating was gorgeous and nestled in amongst the trees with live music on the lowerdeck. Food was absolutely delicious and had some great local beers to enjoy along side it. I had the salmon fish and chips witha blueberry sour beer. My wife had a chicken & avocado sandwich with a house cocktail and everything was great Ended lunch witha cup of espresso to get me back on the road which was equally tasty. They also have lodging and a gift shop next door for bigsur. Overall I would definitly make an effort to visit again on my next road trip down the coast! Read more

My wife and I stayed here for a night during our staycation in mid-October. Sitting down in the riverbed watching the leaves... fall into the water and drift away was absolutely dreamy and I would recommend stopping in to enjoy the serenity even if youdon't plan to stay the night. The food at the restaurant was very good, but I would probably skip the slushy cocktails and gowith something else. I believe you can also buy goodies from the nearby general store to bring down to the water. The staffthroughout were very friendly and helpful. Our only real complaint was the bed. It was extremely uncomfortable, to the pointwhere I moved to the floor in the middle of the night because my back hurt so bad. For reference, we stayed in room 1 acrossfrom the restaurant and the beds of other rooms may be better. The room itself was small but charming and had a great rockingbench and table in a covered porch area in front of the room. The room got stuffy overnight and chilly in the morning and therewas a fair amount of road noise from Highway 1 but we tuned it out quickly. We received an End of Summer gift bag with ourbooking that came with a blanket, a Big Sur cookbook, branded coffee mug, water bottle, postcard, stickers, and playing cards.Very nice touch, as the blanket could come in handy down at the river. TLDR: Beautiful scenery and tasty food, but the bed waspainful and sensitive sleepers may want to consider staying elsewhere. Read more

We love this place! We always use it as a great stopping point to relax, have a drink and listen to the River. This time, we... decided to try the food and it definitely did not disappoint. I enjoyed a salad with a house made cream of mushroom soup. I wishI would've taken more pictures of the food, but I couldn't help but eat it all to quickly! Great family stopping point! Read more

Great location, mid-range quality lodge right on the highway. Has a convince store with friendly staff, the most expensive gas... station in North America and TJI Fridays quality restaurant. The restaurant staff is odd. The millennial manager especiallycould care less. Clearly neither trained in customer service nor going places. I feel bad for her. The check in process is tothe point. Took 2 mins. You get a key, your ID and your CC. The price for value is all based on what the market will bear. It'ssupply and demand. We paid $700 for 2 nights for a motel 6 quality place as there's not much in the area. There's no microwave, fridge, a closet with a door or a/c. The Wifi is so-so. At least it's there given there is no cell reception. So it's not goodor bad, seems people in CA appear incredibly wealthy and don't mind even paying $1500 a night at some of these motels. Parkingis easy and right outside your motel room door. All in all, I would not be coming back given the strangely cold and ruderestaurant staff, super expensive rooms and below average overall experience staying. But it worked out and we had an experiencenot everything is perfect in life :) Read more

We found this place by accident and we were so glad we stopped by. Restaurant is dog friendly and had a live band playing, very... entertaining and lots of fun during our lunch. Drink and the food was pretty good, prices are a little steep but that’sexpected. After lunch we walked down to the river where they had a chairs set up and enjoyed the trees and sound of the riverflowing. Definitely recommend it. Read more

We were traveling through the Big Sur on hwy 1. The Big Sur River Inn was recommended to us by 'my perfect itinerary -the big... sur'. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There is also an area out back where you can dip your feet in the river with seatingto eat as another option which was nice. Staff was friendly and restaurant was clean. There are bathrooms inside and outside therestaurant. The indoor bathrooms were clean the outdoor bathroom I would avoid as it was not as clean. We were seated quickly.Ordered the roasted vegetable salad, the pesto pasta (don't recall the exact name), the vegan burger and the shrimp rancheros. The food was delicious and the service was good. I was actually pretty surprised at how good the food was. The presentation ofeach meal was excellent. The portion sizes of each dish are huge and you can share each meal if you are not that hungry. Highlyrecommend coming here if you are traveling through. You can also get fuel here for your car. Read more
