Reviews for Trail's Grill & Sports Bar in Big Lake, MN

We used to visit trails once a month. I was an advocate of Trails Bar & Grill in Big Lake. Not anymore. I?ve tried reaching the... general manager and kitchen manager via email (many times), Facebook, phone, and through the Monticello Chamber of Commercesince August. I haven?t received a single response. I wanted to talk with them instead of writing a review, but here we are. Myfamily had breakfast there mid-August. We usually have fantastic food. We drive 15min to get there, and we felt like they hadthe best food in the area. I've previously left several 5-star reviews. I can honestly say it was one of the worst meals I'vehad. I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was slimy, grey, and smelled horrible. After reluctantly trying it and spitting itout, I asked the waitress to please give me a new one and she replied "me and another server both thought that it didn't lookright". Please do NOT serve food if it doesn't look right! I have notified the MN Department of Health of this situation; Iwould have certainly been sick if I ate the steak. The cook said "don't blame me, I just cook the food". What a response. Thenthe server said it was a new kitchen manager. Additionally, there was a new food supplier. Oh, and the pandemic is causingsupply chain issues! Everything else is to blame except the kitchen. Apparently, there was no other steak or it was all thesame so I was offered to simply pay for the eggs and potatoes. On top of that, the breakfast potatoes got changed and werelacking any flavor. The eggs were dull, the bread for the toast was made with bread you get from the grocery store. I wasn'toffered for the meal to be comped or anything for our troubles. I asked for the manager to come talk with us but nobodydid. It's been the best place to eat in Becker/Big Lake/Monticello until now and we really wanted to keep coming? that?s why Itried to reach out for 4 MONTHS. We won?t be returning though. Just waited at Trails for 50 minutes for our food when they only had 1 other table before us in the place already eating. When i... asked the server about our food she said the kitchen lost our ticket so we could leave if we wanted to. I personally think theserver lost it- the kitchen staff has always been top notch! Then the server said we had to pay for the drinks before we wouldbe aloud to leave!?! Not going there again. So disappointed. Read more

I was at the bar for a drink or two with my husband and decided to order one of their wraps. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch... wrap, and honestly it was heaven!!! The food at this place is amazing! Every time I've come the staff has been great, and myfood to die for. The prices have taken kind of a scary hike.....but that's happened everywhere with things the way they are. Andeven though things are costing more than ever for everything. Could be 5 stars except the bartender whose lips failed to move when we talked to him!... And didn't know how to smile or... acknowledge his customers. Sad. Great food though...will give another try! Read more

We wanted to buy the banana box out. The seller said it was not worth it. My daughter noticed a man pulling out his license from... a cross the room. She told me not to buy bananas because a couple of guys were holding winners. The seller was already aware andsaid "oh that's the last ones. A gentleman at the bar says too us "this happens all the time, they are all a team. The winnerssaid they were not holding. So some very bad words were said and were asked to leave by the 2 sellers. Fantastic food and great service. Establishment was very clean and wait staff was friendly and helpful. We were not rushed and... the food came out in a timely manner. I liked that there is a good variety of food choices, but not and overwhelming amount ofoptions. There is pasta, burgers, flatbread pizzas, sandwiches and salads. Something for everyone! Perfect place to take families as it is a comfortable atmosphere. Large screen TVs everywhere so you can watch the game or pay... attention to your friends and family. There is a large bar and they serve a whole host of different drinks. Lots of funhistorical memorabilia from the sports teams of the area. Read more
