First time visiting Bright Star Restaurant and it certainly won't be our last time. I can't believe in the 7 years we've lived... in the Birmingham AL area that we hadn't visited this historic restaurant. Everything we had was amazing, our waitress was topnotch, and it was just such a cool place to be. Make sure to take a few minutes and see all the pictures and articles on thewalls, showing a little history of this place. The original murals and marble only adds to the historic value of the BrightStar. Can't wait to go back again! Read more

Classic, oldest in AL, etc... growing up in Tuscaloosa I'd always heard about it and finally had a meal here for dad's... birthday. I would compare it to a "fancy & cleaner" version of City Cafe. YMMV. Read more

We celebrated our 22 year wedding anniversary on April 1st at The Bright Star. They were moderately busy. We had a reservation... and were seated as soon as we arrived. The staff was welcoming and our waitress was very friendly. Several things happenedwhile we were there that were customer-related and the staff handled them well. A man fell out of his chair as he slid back awayfrom his table to stand up. Our waitress and several others ran to help him. Our waitress also had an issue with another table'sfood and the owner came out and took our order so she could tend to her other table. It was a great display of good managementand the owner being willing to do what is needed to help his customers and his staff. The last time we ate at The Bright Starwas more than 15 years ago. They offer old-world charm with traditional Greek-style options and an updated menu that blends oldand new. The cocktails from the bar were delivered promptly and were perfectly delicious. I had the Texas peach martini that wasdecorated with a fresh jalapeno Alice, and my husband had a whiskey sour. We highly recommend The Bright Star. Read more

We came up from Biloxi and went to Tannehill state park. A man who worked there told us we had to check out this place. I'm so... glad he did! We had no idea what to expect, but this place is amazing! Its been there since 1915..the oldest restaurant inAlabama. They play 40s and 50s style music. I ordered the fried snapper throats and she had the bacon wrapped filet. Thesnapper was just falling apart it was so tender. I had to try her filet and it was incredible! The zucchini and squash wasdelicious as was the baked potato. I got some bread pudding to go and it was delicious! Our waitress was Stephanie and wasextremely nice! If we are ever back in the area..this is definitely the first stop! Read more
