Reviews for Udupi Palace in Berkeley, CA
I am disappointed to see Udipi palace become this substandard. It used to stand for quality but my last visit there proved... otherwise. My go to meal is Rava Dosa and Vada Sambar. These were poorly executed, the food tasted stale and the fryer oilseemed to have not been changed for a bit now. I'm sad to see the way this has deteriorated. Read more
Unfortunately, not a good meal. I usually go to Saravana Bahavan in Fremont fory dosa fix. But a Google search showed this was a... little closer. I wanted to give it a try. It was not very good at all. All of the ingredients tasted old. Too much oil, nocustomer service. Next time i will spend the extra 10 minutes and go to my favorite Saravana Bahavan!! Read more
Food is good but the owner must put some more emphasis on the service too. There are around 15 tables and one server assigned to... all these tables. We had to wait for long time, get up from my table couple times to place the order. All the tables wereoccupied meaning you guys are busy but why can't you hire another person to serve your customers??The server was running aroundand trying her best but i can only imagine how exhausting that must be to continue doing that throughout the shift. We always crave south Indian food but weren't able to find a good restaurant around Alameda. But then we randomly discovered... Udupi Palace and I have to say that this is the best South Indian restaurant in the area. The portion size is good, like we wereso full when we ate a masala Dosa plate and it's not expensive, unlike other Indian restaurants. We also had their chai andfilter coffee ????? I can't wait to go try their uttappam, thali and other stuff. Also, the ambience of the restaurant takes youback to India in an instant. I love the homely feeling you get there. Read more
I don't normally write reviews, but as I sit here in bliss I thought I'd toss in my two cents. I just finished the south Indian... Thali, which is a mega combo meal. It had five thick curries, two soupier curries, a sour/refreshing curry and a sweet dessertto top it off. Lovely flavors in each one. Highly recommended. Read more
Chicago Udipi Palace was 1 star this is slightly better and so 2 star. The Vada was decent. Idli was chewy. Dosa was ok. ... Masala was no good. Sambar was watery. Chutney was edible. That’s it. How are people liking this kind of flavor Isometimes wonder. Read more
