Really cute ambiance for brunch! The food was good, and it felt cozy, and the staff was warm and welcoming? they seemed mildly... understaffed, but service was still efficient. Reasonably priced food for Berkeley, too. Read more

The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive, considering he was the only one serving all the guests. He worked as... fast as he could to attend to everyone. He was also very helpful giving us reccomendations. Read more

Half of menu was Italian cuisine, and quality was much lower then expected. No balance, too salty. Probably restaurant was sold... and they need a new staff and chef. Also we recorded rat just outside our window, which was looking for entrance through theirside door? Read more

Came here for lunch because the place looks super cute. We ordered the French onion soup, salmon cakes and bolognese (which was... very recommended). The French onion soup was pretty standard and my friend has enjoyed. The salmon cakes and bolognese wereunremarkable. I would not come again for the food, but the vibe is very cute and they have a lovely outdoor area. Read more

Stunning throwback to a kinder, gentler era of slower food and drink, and nicer people, Le Bateau Ivre, has a purity of... intention, that dates back to the culinary revolution of the 60's and 70's, and holds forth with a simple, almost rustic menu, especially in the breakfast department, where they really shine. Their recipe for Hollandaise sauce is the stuff of locallegend, still executed with tasteful mastery, and the way they put it all together in their eggs Benedict with home fries, anda small mixed fruit side, is exactly what the weary soul, lost in a sea of foodie choices, desperately needs. This is realfrench home food. And I am in love with the place, and the people. BONUS: The decor and surroundings are to die for, and LBI isTHE place for an intimate date. And if all of that wasn't enough, they are incredibly economical. (So please leave them a nicetip, and help keep this historic place open!) Treat yourself! P.I. Read more
