Reviews for Anchalee in Berkeley, CA
Small peaceful restaurant with great atmosphere but food is too salty.
Excellent food, family vibe. Really sweet service. The specials can be amazing so check them out too.
I hate to say unpleasant things about this cute little neighborhood spot, but the vegan dishes we ordered all had some sort of... an eggy or fishy aroma to it. I am not sure if it's because the pans were not thoroughly cleaned in between orders or what, butwe had to discard a lot of the food we ordered. The noodles were a bit overcooked too. Other than that, nice place. Read more
Our visit made our lovely Sunday afternoon just that much more lovely. The atmosphere is beautifully accented with care, and the... soft jazz music created a soothing chill vibe. The food was beautiful, prepared and served with care. This was my dessert stickyrice with mango. The black/purple rice was a pleasant surprise. I definitely recommend this place. ** a side note is thebathroom is shared with a neighboring restaurant and definitely not reflective of the vibe inside this place. Read more
Fresh, delicious, good value. Pretty dishes and friendly service in a cute room with lots of light during the day. Larb gai was... a nice amount of spicy. They even made a Thai tea with coconut milk instead of dairy milk for me, and it was delicious. Nice fora date or going with a friend, or even alone. I would make a reservation for a group larger than 4. Read more
Three dishes Best was curried lettuce wrap Spicy pork with peppercorns was good but not great. Eggplant and veggies were... excellent. Pork was meh. Peppercorn on stem interesting and good Rare beef salad with rice powder was disappointing beef waswell done and on the verge of old (recooked I would guess. Balance in dressing seemed off I should have sent it back butdidn?t. They lost points because we realized after we left that the waitress overcharged us by at least 50 cents for everysingle dish. Including charging full price for brown rice which is listed as a 75 cents upgrade with the peppercorn porkdish. Overall 3.5 Read more
Small restaurant, but no less exciting. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very soothing; Efficient use of space, soft... pleasant music, and close proximity dining where you can not only smell your own food, but of those around you. Speaking of thefood, no matter what you order, the food is always fantastic. Our family had Moo Yang (Marinated pork with Veggies), HouseChicken Curry, Fried rice plate with prawns, and, for desert, fried banana with coconut ice cream. In addition to the delicioustaste of the food, the presentation of the food really begged you to take a picture of it. Pictures posted with review. Read more
