Reviews for Don Gabino's Mexican Grill in Bend, OR
Simple down to earth Mexican food joint. The food is great and that?s what matters. Also very friendly service.
The pictures kind of speak for themselves. This place was delicious and affordable. Which says something because Bend has become... a bigger Sunriver (for non Oregonians that means expensive) thank you Californians. If you've been to a Mexican place like this, you expect the service you receive. They're nice, but their main concern isn't customer service. It is to get you some good foodquickly. Which I appreciate, they're busting their butts in the back. They also had decent Horchata which is impossible to findin this state. If you haven't been, check them out! Read more
I am a trained chef and I happened to be passing through town and stopped on taco Tuesday. (Practically paying me to eat... tacos!!! The price! $7.50) Just let them pick your tacos!! Sauces are delicious!! Top 5 tacos I've had Read more
We always love to come to Gambino's! We love the carnitas tacos! Extra crispy carnitas is the way to go! We've tried every place... in town and much further. We are taco connoisseurs! They have a variety of hot sauces made in house. The owner is friendly andpresent regularly. She expedites the orders as this place rocks out the food all day long. See you again this weekend. HORRIBLE FOOD!! I love mexican food, but NOT ever again from here!!! I had a poor experience with their food quality a year ago.... I thought, well, maybe it was a bad night, I'll give them a shot again. FK, This place has the worst food I have EVER had!Ordered Beef taco. Beef enchilada combo and a 1/2 pint of Guac. The guac was runny, and looked like something I've found in mygandson's diaper. YES, that bad!! I've gotten better at Safeway. The taco had nothing but meat in it. No lettuce, no tomato, nocheese, NOTHING. The enchilada had NO sauce, NO cheese, nothing but a pile of lettuce on top. Who does that? Enchilada'sshouldn't have lettuce piled on it. The refried beans, canned 100%. THIS PLACE SUCKS. I've honestly had better food at TacoBell. NEVER AGAIN! Read more
Favorite Mexican food in Bend! Best bang for the buck... I highly recommend the fish tacos with de-nana hot sauce (it's like a... Mexican chili oil/paste) also the carnitas is great. The large loaded carnitas fries is a must have gut bomb before a night onthe town or not lol... Mix it up with a chimichanga or a burrito served wet! The cabeza is good if you like that really beefyflavor. My opinion I didn't love the Carne asada or the Adobada as much but that's also not what I go there for... overall it isbang for your but great inexpensive Mexican food... the staff is friendly and last but not least the sauces are where it's at!The chillanga and Negra are excellent green sauces and my personal favorite being a chili head is the diabla sauce a brightlyflavored chili de arbol based sauce with nice heat ???? ???? I?ve had an extremely good experience with this restaurant. They have extremely fast service, they are on top of their to go... deliveries, and are extremely proficient with getting their orders out quickly and consistently. But as a person of color, Iwill have to say in terms of flavor, or lack there of, I would not recommend going to this restaurant for authentic Mexicanfood. I?ve gone to this establishment multiple times within the month so I can accurately get a feel for their flavor profileand give an unbiased opinion on what I personally believe to be as good flavors. And while the spicy sauce is hot, it?s not veryflavorful or seasoned. So those of us who are people of color and/or Hispanic or darker skinned and are expecting a lot offlavor from a spicy items, that?s something that you?re not gonna get from this establishment because it is more geared towardspeople who are not of color and supplementing to their diet. It is a good option if you want Mexican food but if you?re lookingfor something more authentic this is not a good option because it is geared towards the majority of the population in the BendOregon area and not off of the Authenticity of the flavor of Mexican cuisine. From what I?ve gathered, things tend to beseasoned with a basic salt and pepper and maybe some spicy peppers here in there but not with a dowsing of cumin and oregano andcilantro and onion powder and garlic powder etc. that authentic Mexican cuisine normally has, and this is coming from somebodywho grew up in Bay Area California where authentic taco trucks are a regular part of our every day food life, and Iunfortunately came from the bay RECENTLY (not even a week ago) and experienced a much more flavorful and authentic taco truckthat supersedes this long-standing establishment. If you were looking for a review that was completely candid and forthcoming, this is it even though I personally don?t want to believe that this is the review that I?m giving this company but I h Read more
