Reviews for La Costa Bora in Belvidere, IL
I tried to give this place a chance. I usually go to El molcajete across the street but they closed early this night. I always... order the same thing(shrimp enchiladas with red sauce non-spicy). I paid almost $30 for this take out meal and when I got it, itwas so hot I couldn't even taste the flavor. Normally if it's a bit hot I will try to eat it anyway but I couldn't this time. SoI called to ask them if they can please make me another plate that was not so hot. I really wanted to give them a chance. Theytold me the batch they made was accidentally made extra spicy and there was nothing they could do about it. Nothing! No creditfor another day, no I'd there something else we can get for you in place of it...nothing. That could be the reason why I neversee this place as full as the restaurant across the road. I have always been treated respectfully at El molcajete and I am aloyal customer that gets food from there often. Do yourself a favor...just go next door. Better food and way better service. The service and the food were definitely disappointing. From the appetizers to the main course. No one finished the food they... ordered. One of the things that bothered me the most was that the waitress took my entire plate of food away untouched, as wellas the other 3 half eaten plates and didn?t bother to ask if something was wrong. Especially mine. Not even if I wanted a to gobox. No care, no concern. Here?s the $200 bill. I left hungry, but more than anything we left feeling played that we paid therehigh prices for the muck we received. It was my 2nd time here. My first time was disappointing as well but I thought I?d givethem another shot 2yrs later. Boon county jail cooks and serves better food than this place. Read more
Food was NOT AUTHENTIC! I had hair in my fish tacos and their margarita flights tasted like juice. Barely any liquor. They... served us a fajita dish with rotten Lettuce on the side. The rice taste like it was 6 days Old and was reheated in themicrowave. The beans were served in water. I don't know if it was suppose to be a soup, but, it was disgusting. Only great thingabout this place was their chalkboard my daughter enjoyed drawing on. I usually don't allow my daughter to behave this way inpublic, but, the food really disappointed me. If I can give this place a -5 star, I just did by leaving this true, horriblereview. Read more

Delicious seafood. Best mexican seafood I?ve had yet. I had a negra modelo michelada (michelada borracha) highly recommend it if... you enjoy micheladas or bloody Mary?s. I ordered a parrillada the sauce they use is a chipotle pepper sauce not too spicy andhas a great savory flavor. I would recommend this restaurant especially if you?re hung over, can?t go wrong. Although the atmosphere when you first walk in can seem off putting, I urge you to go ahead & be seated. The food was really... really good. Everyone in our party really liked their choices. Prices were reasonable. Our waitress took very good care of uswith service, explanations of dishes & suggestions according to our individual tastes. They are willing to adjust the drinks &dishes as you choose. Can't wait to go again Read more
This place is fantastic. Lots of seafood items on the menu in addition to the standard offerings. I had the garlic catfish and... the octopus and shrimp tacos. Service was friendly, salsa was fresh and tasty, and the evening we came in they had a game whereyou could reduce your bill by finding Santa hats - they knocked 9% off of our check. Round 2: Tried the Tostada de Cevichewhich was piled high with fresh seafood. Also had the Costa Bora which was amazing. My new favorite place to eat. Highlyrecommend. Read more
We are already planning on when we are coming back. Our waitress April was super sweet and attentive. Our food came out super... quick. We got the 2lb camarones cucaracha, 1 person parrillada, guacamole with chips and salsa, horchatas and the beso deldiablo drinks. The cucarachas had a great flavor, but really spicy, highly recommend getting them but asking for milder sauce(which we were told we can do in the future). The Parrillada has a great mix of seafood and great chipotle sauce, best part ofthat was the crab legs and octopus! Salsa, Guac, and Horchata was delicious. The beso del diablo drink had jalapeños andstrawberries. Loved it. Worth the price. Read more
