Reviews for Akahana Asian Bistro, Bar, & Sushi in Belmont, NC
I feel the need to edit this post to share even more positive reflections on this establishment and staff. They are just so... incredibly nice! Really great people work here to make your experience pleasant, friendly, and even special at times. I highlyrecommend this place for a friendly, personally special experience! The food is consistently delicious! I love the flat ricenoodle dish, but the spicy basil chicken is also so yummy that making a choice is hard! Read more
Delightful! Before we walked in, our waitress was already preparing for us. She greeted us cheerfully as we walked in and... promptly escorted us to our table. She was attentive throughout our stay and didn't rush us through our meal. The food wasexcellent--flavorful and plentiful. If you're in Belmont, stop and give Akahana a try! Dishes: hot and sour soup, shrimpshumai, calamari, spicy lemongrass w/ beef, mixed vegetables w/ chicken, shrimp and squid Read more

Well, my mission to find the Perfect sushi is not over yet, I have some places that I can say they have good sushi but the one... that will give me the ?aha? moment has not been found yet. But running errands last Friday and came across this place so wentback on Saturday to give it a try. Let?s break down the 4 stars! Customer service: 5 stars actually, the host was nice andattentive, so was the waitress. Ambiance: is a good place for any time, even for a second or third date. Wait: fair, didn?t waitlong. Price: reasonable. Food: ok here is my problem, whenever I order a deep fried roll the tempura is different, it doesn?tbring me any joy! It even gives the rolls an ugly look. I had one appetizer, fried cauliflower and it was different and verygood. Drink: I am a true martini lover so I ordered the Ginger pear martini and I drank it all but I was not impressed at all!It was like a glass of concentrated pear juice/puree, too thick to be a drink, no taste of ginger and lots of alcohol. I wasexpecting a more fluid, liquid drink. The presentation had no effort but the glass was nice. Sushi rolls- ordered two, I likedthe Ocarina, and flavor was very good but could be great. I am very visual, it looked nice, but a beautiful roll always make mewant more! It was acceptable but for the price, maybe a bigger roll is a good idea. The second roll was the Earthquake and itwas a waste of my money, ate it anyways, I was hungry and was paying for it! Will I try other rolls? Nah, will I go back? Nah, Iwill continue on my mission to find the sushi roll with the CA ?wao? factor. I was so spoiled with so many great sushi placesthere ???? but NC is my forever home so I am not giving up ??????????????. Read more
Best Asian cuisine in the entire Charlotte and surrounding areas. This place is top notch very elegant on the inside and set up... great. The wait staff is friendly and very helpful. The sushi is amazing, and there apps are the best. My wife always gets theshaking beef and it?s fantastic. We drive 45 min just for this delicacy. Not to mention the manager Lei is the best and has thatplace tip top and running perfect. I highly recommend this place as it won?t disappoint. Read more

My first time dining for lunch with my daughter on a Sunday luncheon around 1230noon. First atmospheric impressions were not... that pleasant; despite the environment settings and understanding it?s catering to the younger generation; being called a?bistro?, it doesn?t sit well to be called a Sushi Or Japanese cuisine. I have had bad experiences dining at ?bistro ? typesushi places, and not sure the name qualifies as a Japanese name or expression; feels more Hawaiian than anything else. The namemight be reasons why this place is overlooked as well as being called a ?bistro?. On the other hand, the service and quality offood is terrific. I ordered yellow curry and gyoza fried, and tried their Clemson Tiger roll, very delicious and melts in yourmouth; the waiter stated as a Belmont local favorite. Very friendly and professional staff, and very clean and organized. I?mjust turned off by the name. I will revisit on their busy nights to see if there is any difference with quality and service, strongly recommend coming here for fresh quality sushi and hot dishes. Expect to bring a heavy wallet, for just my daughter andI, with tip, I spent about $68.00 for lunch, so depends what you order and who you dine with, enjoy. Read more
For the sushi enthusiast, fresh fish and affordable sake. Grateful to have found this respectable and delectable gem off of... I-85. We had the Bagel and Buffalo roll but the Hamachi and Spicy scallops were something to write home to. Friendly attentiveand knowledgeable staff with the class but not the pretentiousness. Only improvement would be the mochi was slightly overfrozen and had a crumbly bean paste texture. Read more
