The lamb shank was out of this world! I often had lamb, but not the shank portion. This was so tender, so flavorful, served on a... bed of rice with onions and bell peppers. I had to go back the second time and have it again; it was consistentlysuperior. Excellent, attentive, courteous service, by the same gentleman, also met the owner who suggested the tilapia withcoconut sauce, want to try that, definitely. Hayat African Halal, you are a gem, in this place of innumerable options! We aregoing to miss the beauty of Oregon, also this unforgettable Hayat African Halal restaurant. While visiting from CA, found this place not far from us and wanted to try it. So glad we did. Got stuffed Somali pastry (very... tasty), yellow lentils (so good and mild), roasted lamb shank (very tender and fell off the bone), beef sugaar (this was thebest) and chicken skewers (moist and tender). Everything was wonderfully spiced and flavorful. Will come here when back intown visiting family. Also tried the Somalia coffee, if you like ginger, give it a try. This East African restaurant is located in a plaza with plenty of parking spaces. It is cozy where you can dine in or take out.... This was my first time there and I loved it. Service was wonderful, the food is tasty, and the price is not bad. Will visitagain soon. Read more

I hate to leave a bad review because I've never had east African food before. However, I do know that it shouldn't be luke... warm. The rice did not taste fresh and the beef.... well.... the texture was out of the ordinary. The sautee chicken sauqaar washeavily seasoned, in my opinion not in a good way. The seating is in the middle of a grocery store. A little awkward whenpeople go in to shop. Customer service was good. Read more

New in town, I Came to this place after the Japanese Garden, had big buss down food was smackin - Somalia is not to far from... Uganda so you know I had to get the chapati/ sombusa and the lamb plate. Food was amazing worth the ride.
