Just moved back to Beaumont and this place still hits!..
My first time in this place and it wasn't what I expected from looking at the reviews. I ordered the oxtails with rice, collard... greens, okra & tomatoes. The entire meal was way too salty for my taste and overcooked. More of a mushy texture like baby food.Oxtails had a lot of fat on them but tender and the rice was sticky/clumpy. In my opinion, I believe some days you just don'tknow what you're going to get. It's a hit or miss. Unbelievable food! Stopped in for the first time and was greeted with a big smile. The confidence in their food was... demonstrated through the employees serving the food. And there was no disappointment whatsoever. My wife had the pork roastwith rice and I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. EVERY bite was remarkable! Home style Soul Food at it's Finest! A-1, Rosie's!! Phenomenal. I had the Smothered Pork Chops, Candied Yams, and Okra 'n... Tomatoes, With a slab of Dark Chocolate Cake. Only complaint? Cake WAS just a LIIIITTLE BIT dry. But everything, and everyone,else was STELLAR. Highly recommend to all and sundry. And ...that GRAVY?? Man! Haven't had the like in years a 'plenty...sincemy Gran died, I've not had such fine, down home good food. And the GRAVY!?...shhhh...!! Now! Don't say this loud, cuz she'llroll right over in that Casket...but (I do love n miss you SO, Gran! Oh man I do!!) But .... Rosie's is better than my Gran'swas. Omg it was rich, smooth, and creamy without one HINT of lump, and no taste of too much CornStarch as a trick either!!PERFECTION IN ALL CATEGORIES.
