If you?re keto, you have to try this place!!! It is so hard to find Keto friendly restaurants that still taste good! Try the mocktails!! I love Mexican food, but this is not "just" Mexican food. This is New Orleans Mexican food! Absolutely... everything was amazing. The owner and our server, Dallas, treated us with the utmost care and friendliness. I had the Cancun,which includes a seafood enchilada, guacamole with lettuce, tomato, and seasonings, and a shellfish taco. I loved it, it wasabsolutely perfect, and my only regret is that I don't have leftovers to enjoy later! The fried plantains "bananas foster" wasscrumptious. Absolutely every feature of this restaurant, the menu, the quality and freshness of the food, the interior andexterior decor, the bar offerings, the cleanliness, the quality of service - everything is given attention and care. This is the first time I?ve been to Mestizo since way before the pandemic, but I must say, Jim has done so much with the place I... hardly recognized it! The new layout is much more intimate and inviting, the kitchen is in view of everyone so you can alwayssee what?s going on in there, and the colors, design, etc that Jim used on the remodel definitely bumped it up on the list of?nice restaurants? in town. Don?t get me wrong, it was nice before, but now it?s been kicked up a couple of levels. Of course,the food was amazing. I don?t know if it?s because I haven?t been in so long or some changes were made on the kitchen and/or themenu, but the food was much better than I remembered! Keep up the good work Jim! Absolutely Love It! Recently moved back to Baton Rouge and was referred by a friend. Mestizo will definitely be on the ?go-to?... list of local restaurants. A wonderful mix of Mexican and Louisiana cuisine. I tried the shrimp & crab enchiladas and they wereawesome. We ordered 2 dishes they took so much time to bring the order, we were expecting a fresh and flavourful dish. We went along with... the kids.
