Wow! What a Gem in Bastrop! Our first time coming to this joint and I admit I love the homely feel. The restaurant is small,... quaint, super clean and located in "downtown" Bastrop. There is only so many tables, so be sure to get there early for lunchor dinner and be prepared for some awesome food. Ordered the Blackened Catfish salad and it was the BEST BC I have ever had. We sampled each others food and the fried shrimp was off the hook. Likewise, the beef patty on the cheeseburger has anincredible taste to it. I almost gave 5 stars. The food here is amazing!! I've loved fried catfish since before I can remember, but the blackened is... where it's at. Everything was beyond belief until I ate, well, tried to eat the banana pudding. Well, the instant mix, probablystore brand, pudding they serve. It's horrible. Didn't even try to doctor it up. Wow! Hubby had to run to Bastrop for work so I road along. So glad that I did. He asked the person that he was meeting where we... should eat and they suggested Paw Paws Catfish. While we waited for a table we visited with some locals. My husband ordered thechicken tender basket. I ordered catfish and shrimp. Everything was delicious! Great place to stop and eat lunch in the quaint downtown of Bastrop. We had the catfish baskets with onion rings and a side of... cole slaw. Portions were more than generous. The catfish was excellent. The Cole slaw was very good. They add a little spiceto it that we liked. Our waitress was friendly and service was quick. All in all a great stop! Read more
