Small eclectic place in downtown Bastrop. We arrived about 12:15 on a Saturday, had to wait about 10 minutes. Once seated, two... different servers offered us drinks. Our main person took our orders, came back and refilled our drinks.... Then boom quitequickly our food arrived. Wife ordered Willies Hearty Platter and I had a simple Grilled Patty Melt with Onion Rings. Thegriddle cake that came with wifes meal was as big or bigger than a dinner plate. The rest of her meal was done right. My PattyMelt was fine, other than a little greasy...could have been the onions or mushrooms or more likely grilled in butter on agriddle after it was assembled. Still good, just a little greasier than I like. Onion Rings were fine, not hand or home made, but still fine. Service was excellent 5??s Food OK 3??s...who can eat a dinner plate sized griddle cake. Atmosphere3??s....small quaint diner. Bastrop is a tourist town, so expect to pay UP for the Maxine's experience. Service was great, food was OK, but on the high side of the price scale. Read more

Bastrop?s best. Surprise opened with half and half iced tea. Wow ! Im not sure what brand the tea is but it was exceptional. ... Plenty of ice makes me very happy. Its sunday and they have live music on the patio. What a treat! Then the food came? theburger was good, fries crispy but unfortunately i ordered the peach rosemary chicken?. I will never do that again. The chickenwas overcooked tough. The corn had no flavor, salt pepper or butter. Like dumped strain out of dollar general can of corn. Read more

It was so "homey" and welcoming. Looks like your mama or grandma's kitchen when you were little! Such a great feel. Food was... REALLY good. Want to take our kids next time. Sooo much better than a franchise breakfast place. Food made with real love. Nicepeople. Then we gotta go again, to try lunch! Read more

Excellent breakfast. I had the chicken & waffles. Perfect. The chicken is pounded and perfectly breaded and fried. Syrup and/or... white gravy is offered on the side. Egg dishes are large and also very good. It can get busy with a line. Choose eating at thebar. Service is excellent. Rated highly by Texas Monthly. Iced tea is excellent, served in a large Mason jar. Ask for lemon. Read more

Beautiful country place to go eat, small but very nice vibe, food is good, cakes ???? are delicious, very crowded on weekends,... no to bad in weekdays, The service is a bit slow, but I still like to go often even when I live at Austin! Huge pancakes ????but they aren?t that good, I prefer their delicious slice of cakes!! ???? I definitely recommend this little town restaurant!Make sure to check their business hours because they close early!! Read more

This place doesn't need another glowing review.... but hey, what the heck. I asked my friend Alessio at Community Gardens for... a recommendation... but he was busy getting his new sports bar and restaurant ready for the Super Bowl. So i trusted myfoodie spidey sense and just picked this place on its old school country facade. I'll stop here as the food and Lacey and allthe staff were beyond awesome. P.s. I've driven by Bastrop at least 500 times in my life and to Lost Pines about 10 times, for the life of me, i don't know how i never drove thru the town. But now, i love it so much from just 2 hours that i want tomove here. The breakfast bowl was that good???? Read more
