I like Johnny's. Today, I tried takeaway crab bisque and a side market greens salad. The menu says it includes lump crab meat.... So, while I initially thought the $12 price tag was a bit steep, I figured that chunks of lump crab meat would make the pricejustifiable. Imagine my shock when I pulled the container out of the bag!!! I'm showing it next to a package of water crackersfor scale. And my serving did not have much in the way of crab meat -- slivers, but not one chunk! The $6 side salad in the 5x5container was nearly as insulting. Come on Tony, Cindy! What the what??? But that's my fault. Pro-tip: learn from my mistakeand stick with the sandwiches; they are a MUCH better value at a similar price point. Read more
Second visit here- I got the tomato salad and added salmon. The salmon was good and cooked well but unfortunately the tomatoes... were very cold and flavorless. You’re not supposed to refrigerate tomatoes. For it being a tomato salad the tomatoes are thefocus and these were bad, mushy and flavorless. My boyfriend and I had an early dinner here on Saturday. They weren’t overlybusy so there was no wait. I like the look of the place. We started with drinks. I got the brown sugar Manhattan. It was okay.It didn’t have much brown sugar flavor to me. He got the rye street which was really good. I’d get that one again. Friedoysters appetizer was pretty good. No complaints. The red wine short rib with mashed potatoes was tender but not juicy and notvery flavorful. It was fine but I wouldn’t get again. The seared tuna was good but plain. We liked the sauce that came withit. I always get fries from places and these fries were fine. Not great but not the worst I’ve had. The red velvet cakewasn’t good. It was a strangely dense texture and pretty dry. The frosting was also very stiff. The cold brew float was good.They only had chocolate ice cream which was fine with me. It made it like a mocha. But it was mostly just ice cream after acouple minutes and the coffee flavor was lost. The ice cream helped us eat more of the cake though. The server was nice. Noproblems with the service. Phenomenal service!! Nicole and Julia were fabulous. The hostess was welcoming and vibrant. Food was stellar! Black Lives Matter... sign welcoming me in was icing on the cake. Thank you for going the extra mile with that. We are from out of town where racismhas been prevalent so to feel welcome in both word and deed means more than you know. Food was okay to me. We went for brunch after church. My wife enjoyed her Cuban sandwich. I had the shrimp quesadillas and my... son had chicken sandwich. His sandwich was bland. The quesadillas were pretty good. Service was good. Not sure I would go back. Read more
