The Sushi was really really good. I think that was the freshest salmon I've had in Bakersfield. I was slightly disappointed in... the service. As I walked in with my friend, we immediately assumed that we had to wait to be seated because there was a couplewaiting for a host or the waiter. It took a few minutes for me to realize that the fish tank in the front was obstructing theview of the serve staff and they hadn't realized that any of us had walked in. Once they did, the seated us immediately andbegan serving, but we had been waiting nearly 5 minutes at that point and they weren't busy, nor was there a sign posted withseating instructions. It didn't really bother me, but it was a bit akward. I would say the wait staff need to be more diligentabout making sure no one is on the other side of their fish tank. It seems like a major security risk to me????.... I will alsosay that one of my contacts had given me an amazing review of the place even claiming that the wasabi is authentic Japanesewasabi root. I honestly wasn't able to tell any difference. If it really is authentic they might consider grinding it in frontof the guests. Read more

I've been here many times, and I can confidently say that my family and I really enjoy this place. The food tastes and looks... amazing; everything is plated beautifully. Shoyu has a cool and chic atmosphere, although it could seem a little cold anddistant sometimes. The servers are very friendly and accommodating. I used to love coming here but the waiters they have now are rude there is only one good waiter who is left and it?s the... Hispanic male unfortunately he can?t wait all the tables himself but the other two waiters are rude we order our drinks and thewaitress is literally back there eating talking to her friend instead of bringing us our stuff out we spent over 200 to havehorrible customer service to where it?s like yeah I just want to leave but the Hispanic waiter went above and beyond to try tomake our experience great I just wish the tip could go fully to him because he?s wonderful Read more

So it was a year ago today so we decided to come to this delicious restaurant and see if anything has changed and I glad to say... it hasn't, the environment is wonderful. The waiters we're great and very attentive of everyone around not just ours. I wouldsay it was a busy night for a Sunday. We decided to get quite a few item to see if everything gets the attention it needs and tosay the least everything came out very nice with a great presentation. This Americanized sushi restaurant has phenomenal service! Unfortunately we went during rush hour and they became rather backed... up with phone orders. We had ordered and received the cucumber salad and the garlic edamame, which were greasy and sugary. Ittook so long to get the rest of the order that we ended up getting it to go and left. The manager did come out and apologize forthe wait. No complaints about the customer service or the environment. We will try this location again in the future when it'snot the dinner rush and see if it's better than our first experience. Read more
