My wife likes the bread here but I have tried this place several times and other than good service the food is really not good,... especially for the price. On previous visits I had steaks that were difficult to get at the correct doneness and with littleseasoning. It was always unremarkable but today we were in the area and decided to try one last time. The result? A meal that isembarrassing by any standards. I ordered the French dip sandwich that only a few slivers of meat that had a distinctly"reheated" (microwaved) meat flavor (very unpleasant), an under baked gooey bun and my side was onion rings-all three of them!All this for $15.99. My wife had a turkey croissant that was very average and a smattering of French fries, also for $15.99. Ifyou want incredibly overpriced well below average food then this is your place. Ate here on a busy Friday evening. Was greeted immediately and waited for a couple minutes to be seated. Caleb was our waiter... and did a most excellent job. Their warm bread and honey butter was awesome. The table side salad bar is a fun way to build asalad. The steaks were prepared perfectly as was the veggies. They offered some amazing desserts but sadly we didn?t leave anyroom. I would definitely eat here the next time I?m in Bakersfield! Read more
Quick Summary Excellent service, easy parking, but pretty mediocre food (very salty). Food- 1.5 stars Was pretty disappointed... by the food. The molasses bread was dry to start. Tried the sampler platter, clam chowder, prime rib, onion rings, mixedvegetables, and ribeye. The common theme is that everything was very salty, particularly the clam chowder and the prime rib(it's expected to be somewhat salty, but this was unbearable). It's surprising that the prime rib was advertised to be cookedfor 21 hours, because the meat was not seasoned evenly. The crust of the prime rib was extremely salty and nearly inedible. Waspretty disappointed. The sides and the sampler platter were mediocre at best, with everything tasting dry and somewhat old.Black Angus was much better in food quality Service- 5 stars Our server was excellent throughout. Saturday Dinner wait was about a hour. Today was a very busy night. We arrived at 5:30 seated at 6:25 waited another half hour... to be waited on. When the food did arrive it was all well worth it. After a long day of driving, husband was hungry for some steak. As we were passing through Bakersfield, came across Hungry... Hunter Steakhouse. Not a steak person myself, I ordered a pasta dish - very tasty. Husband's prime rib dish? He said twothumbs up. Good customer service too. Read more
Not the Hungry Hunter's I remember, although the remodel was nicely done and is top notch. It's been over 15 years since I've... been here. I feel like it's lost its luster! I question if my margarita was indeed made with Patron Anejo! Definitelydisappointed that I saw no handicapped accessible parking closest to the front entrance of the establishment which I believe isactually a legal requirement. The 3 parking spots adjacent to the main entrance should all be designated handicapped parkingwith the middle spot being wheelchair accessible. I won't be back until this has been corrected! Read more
