On our way from Key West, my husband and I decided to take US-27 north to see small Florida towns. We opted to stop in Avon Park... to stay the night. Right across the street from historic hotel Jacaranda is 18 East Restaurant and Bar. This is a must visitplace. To start, our server Kristin was informative, friendly, and amazing. As we talked, she was from the same town in thepanhandle of Florida. What a small world. Additionally, many other servers and staff interacted with us and it was just anoverall amazing experience. Then we met the owners Dave and Stephanie. These folks have created a wonderful menu and back it upwith great taste and service. We shared the rice balls which were incredible. I?ll do my best at describing it - meat, cheeseand rice made into a meatball of sorts and fried, then served with a delicious marinara. You have to try it. Trust me. I had aperfectly cooked and super delicious medium filet served with twice baked potato and flash fried green beans. My husband did agrilled Grouper salad. Compliment that with some drinks and voila. What a perfect evening and dinner. If you?re in or passingthru this area. You have to check out 18 East Restaurant and Bar. You?ll be pleasantly surprised with the dining experience. Read more

For starters, we got to restaurant at 6:15 and didn?t get drinks until 6:45 and then placed our app & dinner order. We didn?t... get our app until 7:45. The fiesta shrimp was fantastic and left us drooling for dinner. When the meal finally made it to ourtable at 8:15, you should?ve seen our faces. Beautiful, hot and fresh food? Amazing!! So, we bite into our green beans and wowwere they good. Just like the baked potato. The steak on the other hand, whoa!! Steak was cooked beautifully and was a niceportion but the flavor wasn?t there. It was missing something. If it wasn?t for how long it took to get our food and thedisappointment in the main protein of our dinner date, might have gotten all 5 stars. Time, choices, clean, attentive and taste. Those are the key factors to any restaurant and they didn?t meet 5 Sumatra on all fronts. Sorry, but can?t say it?s the bestI?ve had but it?s good. This was our first time here and if I could give 100 stars I would. The atmosphere was so warming, staff was great, owners were... hands on and good to see. They really care about their guests. Food was so good I can't say enough. I have to say though, beststeak and green beans I ever had. The quality of food and quality of service is well worth the price. It is pricey but you won'tregret eating here and paying the price. Btw....what isn't pricey in today's world. One other note we took our 6 yr oldgranddaughter here and I've never heard her rave about food as I did here. Read more

We took my daughter here for her birthday, this is where she wanted to go! Everything was delicious I got the Buffalo chicken... wrap with onion chips. They are like onion petals they were big petals and so good with the horseradish sauce. I forgot to takea picture sorry guys! ???? My husband and son-n-law got the Philly sandwich and they said it has really good flavor but it wasfalling apart. You get a lot of filling and your money?s worth, maybe ask to put it on a Kaiser bun. My son-in-law even usedsome of my horseradish sauce on his sandwich to kick it up a notch! There was two options for kids from what I remember, but thebasket of chicken tenders and fries was really good and you alot. The owner came around twice, to make sure we were okay andthat we were enjoying everything! Great guy and great food tonight! Read more

The fiesta shrimp with its bed of fried kale was perfect, hot crispy, and the sauce, so good! Hubs had the oversized ravioli... with creamy seafood sauce, he inhaled it. My burger was cooked to the point, very tasty, the sweet potato fries a bit dark and ididn't care for the butter on the side, but dipped them into the yummy sauce that came with the shrimp.the staff is veryattentive, the owner was very friendly and stopped by our table several times to check on us. I had the Portebello and veggie wrap to get something with veggies. It was filling and very tasty and came with chips and a big... pickle for $11. The waitress was nice and the food came quickly. The owner even chatted with me and gave me some history ofthe historic building he renovated very tastefully also. I was really impressed with everything and highly recommend to bringyour friends! I was solo so I ate at the bar but they also accommodated tables of four and more. Read more
