Reviews for Tres Amigos in Austin, TX
Went with family after a funeral service. It was well after the lunch crowd around 2:30. The restaurant was next to empty and we... were a group of 15. When we came in there were a couple of families finishing their meals. The food was good but the service wasvery slow. Saw probably 4 employees in the restaurant so I don't know if there was only one cook or what but we saw 3 fohemployees and as our group became very nearly the only group in the restaurant while we were eating, I think it was indefensiblewith how slow the service was. We even called ahead. Granted they did have signage asking for patience with the staff as therewas a labor shortage but with the amount of people in the restaurant they could have had one person nearby at all times torefill drinks, chips, etc. instead of us having to ask for them. We are always so happy with the service we receive here! We are a large group that regularly meets here and we are routinely... warmly welcomed. Our chips and salsa stay full. Our server takes orders as we are ready. The chicken is seasoned well, and thevarious sauces are terrific. The house cocktails are delicious too. Read more
This is a great spot for authentic Mexican food. I often get the sizzling fajitas (chicken & beef or shrimp) which are all... fantastic. The service is also really good. Adam always remembers my name and order - I?ve had a fantastic experience in largepart due to his service. I would recommend coming here and will certainly be coming back! Read more
TEXANS BEWARE - Being from Texas and coming back home after a few years of being away, I was eager for some Puffy Tacos. When I... saw this place advertised for them and also stating they had the "BEST Chili con Queso", my wife and I couldn't resist. To oursad surprise, the food and drinks were horrible. The Queso tasted like canned cheese. The margarita tasted like it came out of abottle mix. The "puffy tacos" were NOT authentic puffy tacos. They were more of a deep fried chalupa bowl with unseasoned meat, cabbage, and some bad bag cheese scooped into it. The chips were also not fresh and definitely was off the shelf of your localgrocery store, and not the good kind. Save your money. Unfortunately, VIVO was closed on Monday and we fly back out tomorrowmorning. Read more

The food and service were very good. I haven't eaten here for years and was surprised to find the food was as good as I... remembered. I got a combination plate and everything was top notch. Did not get any drinks this time though. My wife got a saladwith some meat on it and it was not over marinated yet still tender and delicious. Yes we tend to trade bites of our food whenwe eat out!
