Cute exterior and great location downtown but the brunch I ordered had no flavor. I ordered the typical breakfast of eggs,... bacon, biscuit and potatoes with a side of Mac and cheese and unfortunately, everything was flavorless as if I needed to dumpsalt on everything just to taste something. Slake is more of a food/lunch spot than a pure coffee shop. The coffee is ok, but their secret is their cold brew. No joke this... is the best cold brew I've had in Austin. It has very very little acidity and has almost a natural sweetness to it. The caffeinecontent has to be through the roof though since I can literally feel the capillaries in my fingertips tremor an hour or so afterdrinking. Read more
I was disappointed in my experience. I ordered a watermelon Italian soda, jalapeño cheese kolache, and the chicken bacon ranch... sandwich with mac and cheese. I liked the kolache and the Italian soda wasn?t good so I asked for more flavor. The chickensandwich was a small deep fried chicken thigh and was tough with little seasoning. The worst avocado toast ever, avocado mash was very dark in color which means it was not fresh at all, the tomatoes were also... limp and not fresh,,?the toast? itself not toasted. I ended up leaving the whole dish because it was disgusting, the only bite Iwas able to have was the fried egg. How can u screw up avocado toast??? Don?t waste your money here for low quality food. I got the bacon egg and cheese "biscuit" it's still more like a bun but it really works! They use shredded cheese..I wanted to... go w American but it's not available, but again..it all works and it was really good! The bacon jam is cold ..it has a goodtaste it's like bacon bits w jam mixed in...if it was warm I would have liked it more, glad I ordered regular bacon instead ofjust bacon jam and got that stuff on the side. The establishment has ensured safety for all patrons! It?s a quite yet cozy little spot. Was walking by when the workers where... putting out the sign so decided to stop on by. This is my first experience here at Slake. Such friendly and open environment! Iordered the : Lemon poppyseed muffin This is so yummy! I will say because it?s such a big muffin that there are parts that aremore dryer throughout as I?m eating this muffin. The texture is what you expect minus some dryer parts. Overall it?s was anamazing muffin and space that is why they got all 5s!!! Read more
