Always-friendly staff in an historic Austin building. The food was elevated German pub food - delicious! Outdoors, there are... water misters to keep the patio comfortable in the heat. This was just a regular weekend day. GameDay is crazier, I'm certain, with the oldest and largest tailgate party in town - possibly even the state. They also have live music, but we were there inthe afternoon, before anyone was on stage. Read more

Good food here! Typically we only go to Scholz for drinks or attend UT events (and order drinks), but we decided to meet friends... up for lunch on a weekend. I ordered the Chopped beef sammy with a side salad. Wow, that was a good burger and the side saladcame out in a huge portion size. Even though the day was sunny and approaching 100 degrees, we sat out on the patio. The mistingfans and tent kept us cool and out of the sun. Staff was friendly and provided good service. I'm ordering more than drinks nexttime I'm here. Read more

I?m in downtown Austin for work. I?ve been walking past this place every day. I finally went in. First of all. This is the... best sauerkraut I have ever eaten in my entire life. The pretzel buns are crispy, salty and soft on the inside. Absolutelydelicious. The brats were fantastic. So much flavor. Germain potato salad was on point. Fantastic!!!! Of your inAustin and you don?t stop here. Your missing out. Read more

A nice place to eat some German food. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I sat outside and there was shaded areas, plus mist... machines to keep the temperature down. There is paid parking across the street. It is limited but there are many parkinggarages within a short walk. There are large screen TVs playing too. Not a fancy pkace but it has character as the oldest bar inTexas I believe. The food prices are decent and the food was delicious. I ordered the lemon peppered smoked Wings. The Wingswere large and meaty with a nice smokey taste. I also had the Beef Tips Spazzle. The beef and gravy went well over the noodles. It was quite filling along with the red sauerkraut. The server was friendly but he had a lot of tables to manage and was alittle slow with service, however he had a nice smile and did well. The drink prices are average for downtown but the drinksare strong. The beer prices are a little pricy but there are 2 sizes, 16oz and 32 oz droughts. The larger size is the bestdeal. It is worth your time to at least stop by for a beer and a Brat or another delicious options off the menu. Read more
