Reviews for Keepers Coastal Kitchen in Austin, TX
I personally enjoyed ordering over the phone while sitting at the table as it seemed more efficient rather than waiting for a... server. That being said, our server checked on us regularly and gave us the conventional restaurant experience. The food wastasty and I enjoyed the 1/2 pd gulf shrimp boil with added sausage. I chose the "ay caramba" butter (the spiciest option.) Itwas a good and even heat similar to cayenne pepper and I enjoyed it immensely. My dinner companion enjoyed their shrimproll. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience however there is room for improvement When I asked how spicy the butter was, Igot the reply, "well there's three chili's next to it so that means it is spicy." I mean, I guess that's a fair response but theserver didn't seem to be familiar with any of the dishes in general. There was a moderate amount of indoor seating but thewindow seats were a bit awkward as these are higher, bartop style seating while the outdoor seating alongside the glass islower than you. Basically the outdoor guests are level with your stomach. I'll visit again and update my review asneeded. Update 10/6/2022: Unfortunately, what little positives I had with my previous experience have disappeared. You can'torder/check out on your phone anymore and the food was horrible and overpriced. I ordered the shrimp vermicelli bowl which was$15+ for some dry noodles and lettuce and little to no seasoning. For that price point, I expect some kind of flavor in my foodlol. My dinner companion had fish and chips. The fries were delicious and crunchy...but of course they are, it's literallyfries. The fish was plain (for real, do they not have seasoning back in the kitchen?) and the coleslaw smelled sour and bitteraka, it was spoiled. There were three other tables and one waitress, which seems pretty manageable, however our drinks were notrefilled and I had to go inside to ask at the bar to be checked out. I'm not coming back. Amazing food. I love this place. Originally had ordered a takeout, but saw the restaurant and felt like dining in. I talked to... the hostess and they gladly agreed. Very sweet of them to accommodate my request. Had a pleasant dinner, and only had smilingfaces greet us and take care of us. I loved the blackened drum poboy. Simply amazing. Definitely my go to order until I findanother more delicious dish. My partner had the shrimp taco, and we took pictures of them as they were both just that delicious. If you love cajun spices, this is definitely a place you got to try to know for sure. Read more
We had the cucumber spritz on the happy hour menu which is amazing and refreshing, the fried green tomatoes (shown in picture)... shrimp tacos and ceviche verde. All very good dishes, all on hh menu. Also oysters are always a hit. Read more
I’ve been here twice with my family for lunch. Ate outside both times. The food is pretty good. I enjoyed the Tune Poke Bowl.... My son said he really likes the Rockfish sandwich. Chips and queso are ok. But very disappointed in the margaritas. It’sexpensive for how small of glass they put it in (see photo) and average tasting. I think I paid $7.00. I won’t go there forhappy hour or drinks. It’s semi-dog friendly as they allow pups on the patio, but didn’t have water bowls. You’ll need tobring your own. Overall I recommend eating there. Just don’t order the margarita. Read more
Came for the crawfish. Inside seating is limited but the bar was open and staff was friendly. 4 stars because the crawfish was... pretty pricey and small but did come with all the fixings that other places charge you for. They also give you many options forspices / seasoning that most restaurants do not. Will be coming back to try again later in the season to hopefully update to 5stars. Read more
The Crab boil was good. Lot's of flavor. My wife had the grilled drum. Small portion but tasty
Cool, new spot that took over the NXNW south location. There are 2 sides and the kitchen/ bar piece isn't open yet. The... Keeper side is open, nice large inside area. Outside space, full bar, draft selections, and friendly staff. 4 stars becausethe queso was very bland, the only zazz was the Pico. I got the shrimp tacos and the tortillas were very much store bought. But the happy hour is pretty spot on and I'll most likely be back Read more
I had forgotten about Keepers Coastal Cuisine down the road where was time to have lunch there. We must had arrived right when... the doors opened where I was the first customer for the day. I decide to sit on the outdoor patio to enjoy the weather. Sincethis was my first time here I studied the menu well where selected the Rockin’ Fish Sandwich. The menu stated its allsustainably sourced where menu stated beer battered pacific rockfish, keepers’ apple slaw, red onions, chipotle aioli, toastedbun, and fries. I loved trying a new fish so was excited. The staff is very friendly and made sure I was well taken care of. Soon my order arrived and looked very presentable. The fish tasted very good and had great flavor. The fries were crispy andtasty. I enjoyed very much and excited to try other items on the menu. Read more
